Cedar Heights Elementary Volume 1, Issue 1

How would you like
to meet a real ven-triloquist? Well we did! Mark Wade
gave a few minutes before his amazing and awesome Sep-
tember 14th perfor-mance to answer
some questions.
Mr. Wade’s
favorite puppet is Marvin the Gorilla. His first puppet
was Harry the Horse which he got while he was in col-
lege. He now has 50 puppets at his
house. However, he has sold many. He does not make his
own puppets, but he does design
them. Mary Ann Taylor makes them for $600-$1000
each.
Mr. Wade be-
came interested in
ventriloquism when he was eight years
old. He had checked out a book on ven-triloquism from the
library. He practiced through high school
and college. He used his talent when he became a teacher.
Later, he decided to make it his career.
He knows many oth-er puppeteers, in-cluding some who
work with the Mup-
pets.
Mr. Wade’s work with puppets and ventriloquism
includes writing jokes and using dif-
ferent voices. He said that he does
comedy, so jokes just come to him. He actually writes
jokes for other peo-ple. When asked
how he changes voices, he said he uses 3 basic voices:
a high voice, a mid-dle voice, and a low
voice. He practices with the puppets to perfect the different
voices.

By Lexi Christ and Neva Taylor
The cool Mrs. Kilbarger is the one who sits behind the desk in the awesome office. She helps Dr. Sheets, an-swers the phone, deliv-ers staff mail to their mailboxes, types up the hornet award certifi-cates, and deals with
late students.
This amazing woman has worked here for six years. She must be a good staff member. She does not even think
about retiring someday.

Mark Wade is a real-ly funny guy. He makes the puppets talk and say funny
things. He is hilarious. My favorite puppet was the
horse. A funny part was that the ape did not want to go back in the box. The
ape said the TV does not work in there. When Mark
Wade put him back in the box, he screamed really loud . It was funny. Every
year we see him, he gets more funny/hilarious. He is the most hilarious guy
ever. He said he's been to a lot of schools. It must be
very exhausting.

Mark Wade is funny because he made the horse do funny jokes and a funny
song. I liked it when he counted 1 to 10 with his
mouth open and his tongue moving up and down. It was funny when he made
the big lip talk on the kid’s
face.

Mark Wade had some funny puppets. He
made them talk and
we all laughed. My favorite part was when he put the
lips up to Dylan’s face. It was funny when his ape
was afraid to go back in to
a case.
