Australia: North Carnarvon BasinOlympus Multi-Client 3D Broadband Seismic Reprocessing

The Olympus Broadband Reprocessed 3D project is a large, seamlessly-merged seismic dataset providing broadband pre-stack time (PSTM) and pre-stack depth migration (PSDM) products over the North Carnarvon Basin of the Australian NW Shelf.

This project is entirely supported and funded by industry and will provide, for the very first time, coherent regional 3D seismic imaging of one of the most prolific hydrocarbon trends on this shelf. It will serve as an exploration framework for extending viable play fairways to the under explored surrounding areas and will facilitate future successful exploration efforts.

The Olympus Broadband 3D project is comprised of 20 existing 3D seismic datasets including Spectrum’s own Zeus Phase 1, Zeus Phase 2 and Zeebries 3D surveys.

All surveys have been processed as one volume from field tapes through a comprehensive broadband PSTM and PSDM flow. This provides a complete, unified, dataset covering a complex geological region of the North Carnarvon Basin, giving a total volume of over 21,300 km².

PSTM and PSDM data is available for immediate delivery.

Key Points:• The project encompasses seismic data from relatively shallow water

depths to the edge of the shelf and great care has been taken to optimise the processing parameters for each survey whilst, at the same time, working to a goal of a fully matched coherent output.

• The final seismic imaging sequence is a fully comprehensive modern Broadband flow incorporating both PSTM and PSDM.

• Results show huge improvement over legacy data with improved bandwidth leading to greater resolution at all depths. The advantage of a consistent character dataset is to greatly aid interpretation and enable trends to be confidently mapped across large distances.
