WALKING TOUR OF OLD TOWN TALLINN

The skyline of Old Town Tallinn, Estonia.

The main gate into Old Town.

The Old Town wall just inside the main gate is full of shops.

The street inside the main gate leads to the Town Hall.

A short walk through another gate brings us to Upper Old Town and the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. It is a Russian Orthodox church built between 1894 and 1900.

No photos are allowed inside Nevsky Cathedral so we buy a postcard (left). We continue on through a scenic narrow street. We pass by the Tallin Cathedral.

We pass through St Catherine’s Passage.

Above is a panoramic of Lower Old Town from the higher elevation of Upper Old Town.

We pass by a couple vendors selling as they did during medieval times.

We pass through The Nun’s Gate and go to lower Old Town. We pass by a water well.

St Olaf’s Baptist Church, the first record of it was in 1267.

The “Olde Haunsa” restaurant. The medieval theme of Old Town has a number of restaurants with the medieval theme.

Nicholas Church was built in the 13th century. It now is a art museum and concert hall.

We end the walk of the Old Town area of Tallinn at the gate of the tower known as Fat Margaret. Also known as Stout Margaret.
