Customer Need Wastewater produced by commercial meat processing facilities is high in BOD (biochemical oxygen demand). ■ Operations discharging to municipal sewers can face costly levies due to capacity
limitations at the municipal treatment plant or for exceeding increasingly stringent discharge parameters.
■ Facilities without access to municipal treatment must meet higher environmental standards for surface or subsurface discharge.
■ Septic systems and other rudimentary treatment systems require large subsurface beds, consuming valuable land that could be sold as additional sites
■ Connection costs to municipal collection systems may not be available or prohibitively expensive
■ Subsurface beds will eventually foul and need to be replaced/rebuilt, which is extremely costly
■ Septic Systems and other rudimentary treatment systems negatively impact the environment as opposed to Newterra’s advanced treatment
The Newterra Solution Newterra designs and manufactures modular, membrane bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment systems that are effective for the high BOD wastewater of food and beverage processors. Treated ef uent delivered by Newterra systems meets regulatory requirements for a wide range of discharge options and water reuse applications. When required, Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) pretreatment can be incorporated to reduce fats, oil and grease (FOG) and total suspended solids (TSS).
Differentiation Newterra systems: ■ are very compact, requiring minimal land and allowing additional sites to be located on
former subsurface beds ■ offer the exibility to be con gured as fully self-contained units including tankage, or as
hybrids that combine prefabricated elements with inground tanks ■ scalable and can be designed to allow for additional treatment units to be incorporated as
they’re required ■ are equipped with odor control and noise attenuation, so systems can be located in close
proximity to residents ■ offer high quality treated ef uent that meets the most stringent environmental standards
for reuse, direct surface or subsurface discharge ■ are built to high standards as permanent assets with simpli ed maintenance requirements ■ can operate in extreme conditions from -30ºC to +40ºC ■ are designed with the convenience of remote monitoring and system control by Newterra or
by your own operators ■ are built with the operators in mind as packaged treatment facilities; not just enclosures
for equipment
