Notes: Les mois et la date
Les mois:
In French, you don’t _______________________ the months of the year.
Giving the date in French:
To express the date in French you must use a pattern.
There are two ways to say the date:1. C’est….2. Nous sommes…. (On est…) (this is informal to say the date these ways)
Examples:C’est le 14 octobreNous sommes le 14 octobre.
ATTENTION! When it is the ___________________ of the month, you do not say “un”. Instead, you say le premier.
Example: C’est le premier octobre.
To ask for the date:
When you want to know the ______________, you ask “Quelle est la date?”To ask about specific days, tack on the following words to the end of the question:
Aujourd’hui = todayDemain = tomorrow
When you want to know the ______________, you ask “Quel jour sommes-nous?” or “Quel jour est-ce?”
When the French write the date in the abbreviated format, thy write the __________________ and then the ________________________.
Example: 12/7 = le 12 juillet 19/2 = le 19 février

The person who’s first name starts with the letter closest to Z goes first. Player 1 picks a number and a month and creates a date using this information. The partner looks at the corresponding box where the 2 boxes intersect and looks to see if they have a boat there. They let their partner know if it was a hit, miss, or if their boat is sunk.
