Preface

Pack2pack Halsteren BV was founded in 1942 as Plametha on the basis of the then ±75 years old forge. In the fi rst post WWII years, production started with coal scuttles, pails, wash boilers, wash tubs, drums, and basically anything that could be made of steel plate. This lead to the specialization of producing steel drums for use mainly in the chemical industry in the Netherlands and Belgium. The machines for this production process were built in-house in those days. In 1968 the steel drum product line was ex-panded with tin packaging materials for the food industry.

At the end of 2006 the drum production was sold and the production of tinplate packagings became the basic operation.

The business is now a member of the pack2pack Group, an international concern with branches in several European countries, specialized in the reconditioning of drums and IBC’s and the production of tin packaging materials in the form of pails and cans.

Pack2pack Halsteren BV produces and sells tinplate pack-agings for vegetable and mineral oil, chemical and paint-industry.There are three production units:• Pails: tight head and open head pails.• Tinplate: tin cans for both food and non-food.• Printing: lacquering and printing of sheets.

Our products mainly go to the industries producing edible oils, coatings and (petro) chemicals.In its production of the packaging materials for substances that may harm man and the environment, p2p operates in line with the relevant international Directives of the Perma-nent Packaging Commission.This international regulatory system is an essential element in our quality management system and is incorporated into the respective quality documents.

Our Quality Assurance policy focuses on realizing above-mentioned objectives. Our primary assumption is that every employee accepts responsibility for the quality of the work performed everyone individually. In addition to the auto-mated process controls and periodic control put in place and verifi ed by the Quality Department, all requisite means are supplied to staff enabling them to control their own work.

Continuous improvement is a permanent objective aimed at achieving continuous improvement of our performance towards our customers and is an item in every meeting. The basis for deciding on improvement actions lies in customer satisfaction as expressed in direct reactions during visits, low complaints incidence, sound relationships, and achieving a high degree of partnership.In view of our markets we consider compliance with applica-ble legislation imperative, which is the reason that we have integrated it as a high priority item in our quality manage-ment system.

Based on teamwork, our organization makes transparent improvements of products and processes.We closely track costs, matching investment policy to improve the quality of the product and optimize process control.

We strive for a product to meet customer expectations and associated quality standards, because our customers are entitled to the highest possible added value.

Customer satisfaction is our prime objective, every day, pro-viding high service levels with every action.

Apart from a modern printing department, we also have our own repro department with the very latest technology. We can receive artwork from customers in several different file formats and when the originals are transferred to our computers we examine them to avoid any printing problems that could occur. Direct communication with the customer allows text chan-ges and colour adjustments to be made quickly and safely.

As we cover the complete process it is easier for us to pre-pare new printing plates and make corrections.

We check for printing accuracy and colour match continually throughout the whole printing process.

On our printing presses we can print either spot colours or 4 colour process with a dot gain of up to 150 lines/inch.

In many cases some form of internal protective coating is required to avoid corrosion or to prevent the packaging from reacting chemically with the contents. At the same time, it is important that the internal protective coating does not affect the quality of the contents.

We have therefore developed several different internal protective coating systems to safeguard both the packaging and the product. The lacquer comprises of one or more layers, which offer full protection.

Pack2pack Halsteren BV received quality accreditation to ISO 9001 in December 1990.

In 2000 pack2pack Halsteren BV received an additional attestation foodsafety based upon the HACCP-guideline.

In Januari 2007 foodsafety accreditation to ISO 22000 was received.
