Topic LO: What are the differences between Anglo Saxon and Viking costumes?

Week 13 Monday Writing week 8 – report Write a letter or CV to persuade a fictional or real character to employ you. Think about what skills you have. Why would that character want or have need of that skill/s? What are your strengths? What are the requirement of that position or job? How are you different from other people that might try an go for that job? Plan your letter using the questions above. Here are some people you could write to:

• Greta Thunberg – write to be her assistant

• Albus Dumbledore - write to ask for a job or to become a pupil

• Alex Ryder – to become his apprentice

• Wimpy Kid – to become his new best friend.

These are just suggestions you can come up with your own.

Use I pads/Laptops research key figures of this time period (King Alfred, King Edward, King Athelstan, King Edgar, Eric the Red, Ragnar Lodbrok etc.) Children to use research to create giant fact file in the form of posters or using I pad apps such as ‘I Can Animate’ to present facts (children could use voice over to retell facts in first person about significant figure). clips. Note the similarities and differences. Discuss primary and secondary sources of Viking battle costumes- discuss the appearance of shields, swords and helmets.

• What are they decorated with?

• Compare pictures of Roman shields and Saxon shields.

• Discuss how they are similar/different.
