Tonight, parents will…

• Know and understand their role in the Parent Learning Community.

• Know ways they can be involved with their child’s classroom and school.

• Understand the expectations of a fourth grade student at Samuel Beck Elementary.

Beck Mission Statement

success for all learners, ensuring a safe environment that implements

rigorous, relevant curricula, and focused instruction.

Times to Know

4th Grade Conference Time: 7:45-8:40 a.m.This time is also your child’s specials time. Please make sure they are here by 7:30, if possible, so they have time to take care of morning activities before heading to specials.

Snack Time: 9:30 a.m.Snacks are allowed as long as they do not disrupt the learning. Please do not send snacks with peanuts. We have several students with an allergy.

4th Grade Lunch Time: 11:45-12:15 p.m.Please feel free to eat lunch with your child anytime. Your child may ask one friend to join them at lunch, if you wish. Due to food guidelines, please do not share food with anyone other than your own children.

Birthday Celebrations

• If you would like to provide a treat for your child’s class in celebration of a birthday, the treat can be sent with your child or you may bring it to the front office to be delivered to your child’s classroom. The treats will be served at the end of the day.

• The birthday treats MUST be single servings (cupcakes, cookies, donuts, etc.) or MUST be precut. Parents also need to provide napkins for the treats. All items must be store bought.

Love and Logic

• What is Love and Logic? Love allows children to grow through their

mistakes. Logic allows children to live with the consequences of their choices.

www.loveandlogic.com • 2015 – 2016 NISD Student Handbook and

Code of Conduct is on the NISD website under the Parents tab.

Volunteering

• NISD Background Check must be completed in order to volunteer. See the Beck website for a link for background checks. They must be completed each year.
