Create A Small Team• 10 teachers from various departments;

planning periods throughout the day• Train-the-Trainer model

– Use early release time to conduct mini-sessions for staff

• Ahead of the Curve– Two days of summer training– Four coaching days per Year– Four release days per Year– Year 2: Modeling for dept.

High Expectations• Staff on Board With Plan –Surveys to Staff- Talked at faculty

meeting about changing how it was gong to change classrooms/how learning takes place.

• Used our early release Fridays for trainings• Our train the trainer model was vital in getting this initiative in place• Teachers saw this as a way to truly “Engage Our Students” and

with tools and training a way to better hold our students responsible for their work.

• Focused on only a couple of tools,

“Moodle & Dyknow”• Teachers expectations 2010-11• Teacher expectations 2011-12

Procedures & Protocols• We visited Daviess Co & Todd Co as well as researched the internet to compare and

create

our rules and guidelines. You can find ours at www.larue.kyschools.us and it is saved as a word document under the area KASA presentation.

• Formed a committee of teachers, administration & technology staff

• Presented document for SBDM approval

• Lots of Items to consider– Training of Parents– Training of Students– What to do about printing?– Distribution– Return of Laptops– Insurance– Bills

Keeping Students in the Loop

• Planning (visits, expectations)

• Access to Resources (teachers,

feedback, research)

Models of Pedagogy

• Listening (interpreting/engaging at your own pace)

• Articulating (responding to homework in voice vs. writing)

• Downloading (voice recordings, written, images)

Application Tools (DyKnow)

• Monitoring (monitor / preventing)

• Presentation (MS Office, internet, images, etc.)

• Class engagement (individual/group)

• Quick feedback (exit slips, polls, “clicker system”)

• Central Repository (resources)

• Digital Delivery (quizzes,

assignments)

• Student engagement (individual/group)

Keep Parents & Community Informed

• Establish Initiative Committee– Include anyone in the community including parents,

students, chamber of commerce, etc.
