Every moment counts

Apply yourself in class in each lesson

Every moment counts

Take responsibility for your learning - make each lesson count so you can build on it outside of the classroom

Complete homework to the best of your ability - it is revision and not just a chore to be completed

Mindset matters - arrive on time and fully equipped

Excellence is not an act, it is an attitude – you are what you

repeatedly do

Mindset matters

Just 17 days absence from school a year

could result in a drop in a GCSE

grade in all subjects.

Attendance and Attainment

90% = 100 lessons missed - half a day every week

85% = 150 lessons missed

All students who had 10 lates or more failed to achieve an average of a grade 4 in all subjects

Routines and HabitsWisdom from last

year’s Year 12:

‘The key for me was having a routine of what I did each day. I made sure I knew what I wanted to cover and it was all ready for me to do so I didn’t spend time procrastinating.’

Wisdom from last year’s Year 12:

‘In the beginning I got it wrong . I was trying to cram everything into the weekend and I couldn’t keep it up. I don’t think the quality was good either. I just started to split it up over each day of the week and plan in my breaks. It really worked for me.’

GCSE Maths

GCSE Maths - Revision● Students are given a practice exam paper every week for homework. They should

make sure they do these to the best of their ability and use Mathswatch/Corbett Maths or a revision guide to look up any topics with which they need help.

● Continuous revision and following up on topics covered in class will be far more beneficial than last minute cramming.

● At home please encourage students to take their time with these papers - they are the best way to prepare for the exams.

GCSE Maths - Exam Questions● The more exam questions completed the better.

● Focus on breaking down the question – use of highlighters for keywords.

GCSE Maths - Formulae● There are a number of formulae that have to be learnt.

● These have been sent out to students – display where they are going to be seen regularly.

● Please test these regularly at home.

● 5 a day

● Practice papers

● Questions on selected topics

GCSE Maths - October Mock
