iPAD Etiquette

• Rules in my classroom:• The phrase “iPad Etiquette” means: iPads are closed, both

hands are on top students desk, and ALL students are ready to listen. • iPads are for academic use only• The device must be treated with care:

• Do not use around food or drink• Be gentle: do not bang on screen

“KNOWSY” Parenting

• Be a “KNOWSY” Parent• Know what your child is watching on TV!• Know what they are listening to on the radio, iPod, etc.• Know WHAT they are saying on the computer & cell phone.• Know WHO they are talking to on the computer & cell phone.• Know WHO their friends are.

Social Studies 7: The American Nation

In Grades 7 and 8, students will examine the United States and New York State through a historical lens. The 2 year sequence is arranged chronologically beginning with the settlement of North America by Native Americans and ending with an examination of the United States in the 21st century. Although the courses emphasize the skill of chronological reasoning and causation, the courses also integrate the skills and content from geography, politic, economy and culture into the study of history. ,...—., (engageny.org)

History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (“the Standards”) are the culmination of an extended, broad-based effort to fulfill the charge issued by the states to create the next generation of K–12 standards in order to help ensure that all students are college and career ready in literacy no later than the end of high school. English Language Arts is part of every class curriculum. Students will be expected to read, write, analyze, and interpret many different genres. Throughout each unit, students will receive quizzes, complete writing assignments, read continuously, conduct research and complete projects to demonstrate their mastery of the subject.
