These colors are special because at least one of them appears in the flag of every nation in the

world!

Rings are joined to remind us of the sporting friendship of all mankind.

Traditionally accepted date of the first Olympiad is 776 B.C., however, it is believed that they may have started earlier.

Festivities were held in Olympia, Greece where a stadium and a temple to Zeus were built.

A "Day of games" was held to honor a god or dead hero.

Originally, only males could participate in events like a foot race or stadium race, long distance foot race, wrestling, and

the pentathalon.
