Current Unit of Study - Africa south of the Sahara

In addition to learning about the geography, culture, history and economics of this continent, students will have an opportunity to rotate through a variety of activity stations.

Stations will include: Creating puzzle maps of Africa, completing an Environmental Case Study of Desertification in the Sahel, creating Kenti cloth, creating acrostic poem about an African animal, web activities about the geography and culture of South Africa and its neighbors as well as Rwanda’s Mountain Gorillas.

Students will be asked to bring two articles on current events taking place on this continent, and a summary of each in their own words. Due date: April 5th.Test - April 13th Chapter 17 – South Africa and Its Neighbors

TAG – Africa Photoscope - Students will respond to two of three photograph collections: Conflict, Urban Africa, Environment in a variety of ways

• Finishing a unit on Geometry and Measurement, test Friday

•New unit – Surface Area and Volume of Prisms, Cylinders & Cones

•Will analyze Benchmark Test next Monday with data coming home to parents that day

Math Periods 2nd, 4th, and 5th

• Current unit – Geometry & Measurement of Area and Perimeter

•Test will be Thursday, April 5th

•Benchmark analysis – Tuesday & Wednesday, April 6th , 7th with data coming home to parents that day

•After TAKS, we will be multiplying and dividing fractions
