Education
Enhancing Learning Levels:
Education camps were conducted across 8 government schools of Anjar with an aim to
improve learning levels of children. 3 hours were spent every day focusing on subjects
like Gujarati and Mathematics. After the sessions, regular home visits were made to
update and encourage the parents to also be a part of their children’s learning journey.
Empowerment
Victory of Sanjivani Jadhav
Sanjivani Jadhav from Nasik, a long distance runner being sponsored by Welspun Foundation
finished the Mumbai Half Marathon in first position held on 21st January 2018. She won gold medal
at the Tata Mumbai Marathon finishing 21 km in 1hour 26 minutes.

Promoting sports in Indian Women
Welspun enrolled two new sportswomen excelling
in the disciplines: Taekwondo and long jump.

Winner of All Maharashtra sports academy in long
jump. Finished both, 100mt and 200mt running in
the first place at Mumbai School Sports
Association held in December 2017

Achievement- Finished the World Taekwondo
Tournament in Thailand in third position
winning a bronze
Hygienic Sanitary Pads Program
A group discussion on menstrual hygiene
was conducted with the women living in the
workers colony, Vapi. Menstrupedia movie
was screened to sensitize the women on
importance of using sanitary napkins. The
self-help group manufacturing Sure- Free
100% biodegradable sanitary napkins
reached out to 140 women. It was observed
that women in the villages and worker
colonies are now more inclined on using
sanitary napkins than cloth, which is a
positive change.

Environment
Pure & Safe Drinking Water facility
An RO plant of 250 LPH was installed at Shinay Primary School, Gandhidham. Approx.200 girl students of the school including staff members will benefit from this facility.
Sustainable Farming Project
A joint meeting was organized at Khambhara village, Anjar toidentify the problems faced by
farmers. Information related to types and varieties of crops, fertilizers used by farmers, types
of insects / harmful for crop was collected from the farmers. Other information like quality &
quantity of water available, quantity of production/ per acre from crop etc was also gathered
during the meeting.

Health
Project Navchetana
Height and weight monitoring of children,
adolescent girls and pregnant/lactating
women is been done regularly in 14 villages
of Anjar and Vapi. The haemoglobin check-up
was completed for the adolescent girls

Free Health Medical check up
A paediatrician was invited to examine
children during the Health Mela and free
medicines were distributed to them. A total
of 140 children underwent a general
check-up. Malnourished children of the
communities were given special invitation to
take benefit of this facility.

Exposure visit of Vapi Navchetna team
An Exposure visit was organized for Vapi Navchetna volunteers team to Anjar. The main
objective of the visit was to motivate the team and provide practical understanding for
implementation of the project. Clarity on conducting the Health Mela, challenges faced on
the field and providing its solution was given to all the volunteers of Vapi.

Model Village - Ajapar &
Kharapaswariya (Anjar)
Education- The attendance of the children
in the classrooms has increased in the
classrooms after the installation of the
digital software in the classrooms.
Empowerment- All villagers have made
their Aadhar cards 98% of them have made
their voters and ration card.
Environment - 100% sanitation facilities
provided by constructing sanitation blocks
for every household in the villages.
Health - Health Mela was organized in
Ajapar and Kharapaswariya villages. Various
stalls were put up to provide information to
the villagers on health awareness. Also, a
street play was conducted in the Mela on
malnutrition and addiction.
Environment - Animal Husbandry is a main livelihood activity of villagers. In coordination with the
local dairy, the villagers can get fair rates for their milk and other benefits from the “Kutch District
central cooperative milk producers union”.
An Exposure visit was organized with approx. 60 cattle holders - especially the members of dairy
(cooperative milk federation) & members of “Sarhad Dairy”. Different procedures were explained
to them on how to prepare ghee, curd and other dairy products. A visit to High Tech Agri & Dairy
Expo was also organized for the cattle holders to give them information about nutritional food for
cattle, diseases of cattle, their regular vaccinations, etc.

Medical Camp conducted for students of
Vatar primary school and high school.
General Physician, Eye Check Up,
Gynaecologist and distribution of
medicines free of cost, participation of
more than 270 students were screened.

During the eye check-up camp conducted at Vatar, standard spectacles were given free of cost
to those with 0.00 to 0.50 vision problems. Whereas, for those with special powered glasses, the
glasses were custom made with higher power based on the tests conducted.
Empowerment
Self Help Group meetings conducted at Rohina, Vatar and Morai Village. Bank loan meeting
organized with the Branch Officer of Bank of Baroda, Udwada at village Kalsar. 5 new self-help
groups will be formed from Morai and Vatar Village.
Model village- Vadadla
Essential Infrastructure
Garden development at Vadadla is the biggest
project taken up at Dahej this year.
The project will offer exercising area, walking
track and beautiful ambience for the people
of Vadadla village.
Status: Completion of boundary wall.
Installation of CCTV cameras at Amleshwar
Village, Dahej is in progress. 32 CCTV
camera’s have been installed across the
village to ensure 24/7 vigilance in the village
