What are they?

• I am a trap on the goldfields (mounted police officer).

Why did they call them “Traps”

• They called me a trap because I trapped\captured miners without a license.

What did they wear?

• I wore blue, black, red, white clothing and gold clothing.

What did they use for transport?

• I usually used horses for transport because it was better than walking and saving energy.

What did they eat?

• I ate sea food, chicken, fruit, vegetables and mutton.Vegetables Fruit Mutton

How old do they have to be?

• I had to be 20 years and up to be a Trap.

Why were they needed?

• I was needed so I could catch diggers/miners without a license and keep an eye on them.

Were they rich?

• No, I was not rich because the government didn’t supply me with a lot of money.

How did they track unlicensed diggers down?

• How unlicensed diggers were found when I went out “digger hunting” and if I found them I would probably arrest them and may cause imprisonment.

Were there anymore names for them?

• Yes, Troopers, Traps, Miner hunters, Trippers, Joes’ and a police officer/mounted police officer (Croopers).
