What Assessment and Tracking do we use in Foundation Stage 2

Presented byJebel Ali Primary School

Background

• No FS1 – the impact this has

• Baseline Assessments– Communication, Language and Literacy– Mathematics– Knowledge and Understanding

What happens in the Classroom

Two broad kinds of assessment• Formative – assessment for learning -Continuous webcam • Summative – assessment of learning –Snapshot – capture ‘now’

Every interaction is an opportunity to learn about a

child

What does it involve?• Organising resources and time; • Planned & spontaneous observations• Good quality observations• Staff trained to recognise important moments

in development and learning – make judgements

• All staff including TAs, PE (PD), Music (CD)

• Spontaneous observations; post-its, notes, photographs, assessment wall (CT, parents, TAs, specialists)

• Planned observations; organise time and resources - group assessment sheets

• EYFS profile – highlighted weekly in books – learning journey, YG assessment meeting – includes both of the above
