What Causes The Car Battery To Drain Before Time?

Imagine you are in hurry and rushing to work but found that your car is not starting.

And you don't have any idea how this happened?

It may be due to that faulty car battery which causes dimming of light and making the engine unresponsive.

Some common causes of car battery drain or failure :-

As per owner's manual, an old battery or loose cable can cause more expensive problems.

Warning signs or symptoms of battery problem :-

There are some tale-tell signs that indicates the battery's health and problems in the first stage

Slow engine crank :-

While starting engine, the cranking takes longer time then normal start time interval.

When any malfunction happens in vehicle, it is directly warned by the check engine light.

Check engine light pops up :-

When battery gets weak, check engine light pops up and remains for sometime.

If the battery fluid level is below the lead plates, then it's time to check the battery and charging system thoroughly.

The causes of battery failure :-

Faulty charging :- if the charging system is faulty then the battery can drain very fast in the running time too.

The use of more power on radio, lights etc. could worsen the battery condition in very less time.

Unnoticed human mistakes :- Sometimes the motorists come from work and mistakenly leave the lights ON or don't close the

trunk properly etc.

The battery drains all the night and it doesn't start in the morning.

Parasite drain :- when vehicle components are malfunctioned, it drains the battery whether the ignition key is ON or OFF.

Defective alternator diode :- the alternator recharges the battery system. So if it gets malfunctioned then it will reduce the

charging as well as drain the battery very quickly.

Old Battery :- If the battery is old then it holds less charge than new one.

As per manufacturers, a motorist should change the battery in every 4-5yrs of interval.

Short trips :- Short trips can harm the battery as it won't get fully charged and retains moisture inside it.

Extreme temperature :- The extreme summer and winter temperature affects the battery life which results in faulty

battery problem.
