• The inspiration for the American Royal name was the Royal Show put on by the Royal Agricultural Society in England.

• The Kansas City Royals baseball team gets its name from the American Royal.

• During the early and mid-1990s, a streamlined passenger train service ran between Chicago and Kansas City named the American Royal Zephyr.

• The American Royal was the birthplace of the Future Farmers of America in 1926.

• The winner of the first American Royal BBQ Competition in 1979 was physician and psychiatrist Dr. Rich Davis, whose sauce became famous as K.C. Masterpiece BBQ Sauce.
