The National Environmental Biodiversity Act (NEMBA) instructs the South African National

Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) to “collect, generate, process, coordinate and disseminate information about biodiversity

and the sustainable use of indigenous biological resources, and establish and

maintain databases in this regard”

Nature conservation, Agriculture & Veterinary services

are spread over 9 provinces, giving a total of 27 bodies that must

communicate with the private sector involved with wildlife
