Students will use interlockingblocks, string, rocks and foil to build aproject of their choice. This is a nationalcompetition, that introduces children tothe construction industry.

CENTRAL FALLS HAS HEARTYWCA is partnering with Mayor James Diossa and local businesses for the Central FallsHas Heart campaign. SARAH FRANCES GRANT HOMESTEADSarah Frances Grant Homestead is a permanent supportive housing program for home-less women with disabilities. Residents must be 18 and over, unaccompanied by childrenand have been substance abuse free for at least three months before entering the pro-gram. Residents have a single bedroom and share common areas such as the livingroom, dining room, kitchen and bathrooms. Case management services are offered on-site. VOLUNTEER INCOME TAX ASSISTANCE (VITA)The VITA program offers free tax help to people who make $50,000 or less and needassistance in preparing their own tax returns. IRS-certified volunteers provide free basicincome tax return preparation to qualified individuals in local communities. As partici-pants in the Earned Income Tax Credit Initiative, YWCA Rhode Island assists with thenecessary paperwork for earners to receive Earned Income Tax Credits from the FederalGovernment. YW Rosie’s Girls combines thebest of YWCA Rhode Island andSophia Academy gender specific pro-gramming and offers a unique experi-ence for adolescent girls designed tobuild self-esteem, perseverance andleadership through learning andapplying basic skills in the trades(e.g. carpentry and stone cutting).
YW Rosie’s Girls is supportedthrough a mix of funding and dona-tions from individuals, foundationsand corporations. The overwhelmingmajority of our campers require finan-cial aid. In fact, last summer 100% ofour campers received full tuitionscholarships to attend.
Now that the saws and powertools are packed away, we havebegun to plan for Summer 2014. Weinvite you to join other women andmen in becoming a member of YWRosie’s Circle, a group committed topledging financial support to YWRosie’s Girls to ensure that no girlwill be turned away from the campbecause of her inability to pay.
