Highlights

Trends in Weekly Malaria Deaths

Trends in Malaria reporting rates

Reporting rate has reduced from 78% in the

previous week to 73%.

Malaria cases have increased from 77,500 in

week 12 to 85,500 cases in week 13.

Treatment of test negatives decreased in East-

ern Uganda though still high in Karamoja region

Hoima and Ngora district have the highest

malaria deaths.

The number of confirmed malaria incidence is highest in Moyo and Adjumani and has increased gradually

from 6 cases per 1000 population to over 10 cases per 1000 population over the past 4 weeks.

Kyangwali HC IV, St. Anthony Domiciliary HC II, Goli HC III NGO and Hoima regional referral Hospital

reported the highest number of malaria deaths.

Kotido, Moroto, Bundibugyo and Mayuge have continued treating test negatives for malaria. These

districts have over 70% of those that test negative for malaria treated with an ACT.

Namayingo Kibaale, Mubende, Busia and Namutumba have a high test positivity rate of over 41%

The malaria cases in central Northern Uganda have returned to pre-epidemic levels. Appreciative of

The National malaria control programme and partners to urgently mobilise resources for lIRS/

Larviciding for upsurge areas of Kisoro district

All reported malaria deaths should be investigated by the respective districts and follow-up should be

carried out by the National malaria control programme and regional Implementing partners.

To sustain gains in Northern Uganda, NMCP, district and implementing partners need to strengthen case

management, ICCM, surveillance and BCC

Update on Kisoro Malaria Upsurge

Kisoro district Epidemic Response Task Force with support from RHITES SW and Malaria Control Program have considerably reduced the burden

of the Malaria however, the cases still remain high. RS / Larviciding needed urgently to deal with the epidemic though support absent.
