Our pathway is a tool to help and guide you in your dressing selection – giving you reassurance that the wound is protected, regardless of the varying levels of exudate. Our dressings manage fluid in different ways to meet the needs of you and your patient. Here’s how KerraMax Care™ encourages wound healing:
Exudate and chronic woundsAll wounds produce exudate (fluid), to help repair and heal damaged skin.
In non-healing wounds, also known as chronic wounds, the excessive production
of exudate can be harmful and delay or complicate the wound’s ability to heal,
if not managed effectively.
Exudate contains many different components – however, it is mainly a cocktail
of water, bacteria, cellular debris and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs).5
KerraMax Care™ – UK’s No.1 super-absorbent dressing1
Highly exuding woundsKerraMax Care™ super-absorbent dressings
offer an advanced method of absorbing
fluid from wounds.
How does it work?
What is the impact these components have on chronic wounds?
Exu-Safe™ TechnologyExu-Safe™ Technology is built into the core of all dressings in the KerraMax Care™
range. Any potential threat from chronic fluid is safely contained:
3 Either side of the dressing can
easily be placed onto the wound.
3 The unique horizontal wicking
action increases absorption
capacity, reducing odour and
unsightly bulking.
3 High fluid absorption and retention
help to lower wound bioburden
and reduce maceration.
3 Lateral wicking action ensures
exudate is absorbed evenly
throughout the dressing, with
no gel blocking.
3 The super-absorbent gel layer
swells when it comes into contact
with exudate, trapping and
locking away bacteria and MMPs
in the dressing’s core.2,3
3 Heat-sealed edges help reduce
leaks and keep the dressing
strong and intact.
Locks away all harmful
components of
chronic wound fluid –
especially bacteria.
Locks away exudate to
protect the delicate
wound tissue and healthy
surrounding skin.
Locks away the risk
of infection2 and
helps reduce odour.

1 Soft, nonwoven material helps to provide improved
comfort for the patient.
2 Unique horizontal wicking layer
effectively increases capacity
by drawing up exudate and
distributing it, horizontally and
vertically, throughout the
dressing, absorbing both thin
and thicker exudate.6
3 Super-absorbent core with Exu-Safe™ Technology
locks exudate and potentially
harmful bacteria2 away from the
wound, so the dressing remains
dry to the touch, improving
comfort and facilitating healing.
4 Heat-sealed border prevents exudate leakage from
the dressing, so that the patient
remains clean and comfortable.

KerraMax Care™ can be used as a primary or secondary dressing. It can be
stacked, folded or shaped to increase absorption. Suitable for use under all
forms of compression, KerraMax Care™ maintains integrity, even when fully
soaked in exudate. It is also highly effective at reducing proteinases (MMPs)
and sequestering bacteria such as MRSA and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.2,3
The Exu-Safe™ Technology core of KerraMax Care™ absorbs and
retains a large volume of exudate and locks harmful bacteria
away from the wound. We put our dressings under the
microscope to measure the level of bacterial sequestration
of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and
Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
KerraMax Care™ is highly conformable and can be folded to suit a variety of
different wounds. For full instructional videos, visit www.kerramaxcare.co.uk
