ADEQUATE AND BALANCED NUTRITION IS

IMPORTANT IN THE ELEMENTARY PERIOD THAT

HAS GOT QUICKLY GROWTH AND THRIVING.

ADEQUATE AND BALANCED NUTRITION

Is not making stomach full

Is not eating from the nutrients which are you like

Is not eating from only expensive foods (meat, salami etc)

ADEQUATE AND BALANCED NUTRITION

IS TAKING FROM ALL FOOD GROUPS AS REQUIRED.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN'S NUTRITION

NUTRITION : Taking enough from needed energy and food items which is changing according to the age,gender,working and special case of person.

This age is a period that growing and thriving are fast and you can get the lifelong behaviours highly.

The most rapid growth begins in girls aged 10-12; in boys aged 11-14.

Containing primary school children;6-13 age group.

IMPORTANCE OF NUTRITION:

In this period, cause of growth is so fast,

more energy,vitamin,mineral and protein

are needed.

Adequate and balanced nutrition is

extremely important.

Nutrients must be in good qualities and

sufficients amounts.

NUTRITION

According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization

(FAO)'s data, each year, about 6 million children die because of

hunger and malnutrition.

THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT IN THE PREVENTION OF CHRONIC DISEASES IS ADEQUATE AND

BALANCED NUTRITION.

THAT'S WHY, FOR PROVIDING HEALTHY NUTRITION, SCHOOL

CHILDREN MUST BE TRAINED ABOUT CONSUMING FROM FOUR MAJOR

FOOD GROUPS TOO.

1.Milk group

2.Meat,eggs and legumes group

3.Vegetable and fruit group

4.Bread and cereal group

Foods which have got the protection against to the diseases are grouped into 4 categories:

HOW WILL WE KNOW THAT WE CONSUME SUFFICIENT FOOD?

Everyday, consuming enough from these food groups is the most important weapon against to chronic diseases.

Dairy Foods Group;

It is needed to have healthy bones, teeth and normal muscle movements.

MİLK GROUP

Milk

Yogurt

Buttermilk

Ice-cream etc.

Meat Group

Meat,

Chicken,

Fish,

Turkey,

Egg,

Legumes

(bean,chickpeas, lentil)

Vegetable-Fruit Group

These nutrients are necessary for increasing body resistance, having the health of eye, tooth and skin and regularly working digestive system.

They contain plenty of pulp.

These nutrients are required for brain development, being resistant against to the diseases and protection from anemia.

BREAD AND CEREAL GROUP

Rice,

Wheat,

Maize,

Wheat (raw),

Breads made from cereals etc.

These nutrients are required for strengthening of the nervous system and being energetic.

With healthy eating and correct physical activity level; we can provide protection against to obesity, coronary heart diseases, type 2 diabetes, paralysis, cancer and osteoporosis.

We all know the automatic wristwatch that works with movement.These watches set their system during movements. No need to draw their pin everyday to set them.

When we take off this wristwatch from our wrist and put it on a motionless place for couple of days, we see that it stops. There is “ biological clock” that provides continuity of our health. When we don't move, it stops. When it stops, energy consumption system “metabolism” stops,too. When metabolism stops, the eaten foods can not be digested and they are stored as fat.

Stored fats create the obesity with accumulating.

THE CHILD WHO IS NOT FATIGUED IS OBESE CHILD

About a secondary school student:

*If he/she goes and comes to school with the school bus when her/his home is just far away from school like 500 meter,

* If her/his parent takes her/his bag till the school bus,

* If the parent bring her/his food till the room with tray after he/she comes from school,

* If his/her food is always monotype and rafined type like salami, sausages, hamburger, french fries, macaroni, sandwich,

*If he/she doesnt keep his/her activity in maximum level when he/she is with his/her friends in outside and social activities,

* If even, when he/she goes to his/her bed, his/her mother comes and put the blanket on him/her,

For this child, not being obese is abnormal.

Since the 1970s, nutrient deficiencies in childhood and obesity increase rapidly.

This is an important problem cause of creating one of the most important reasons of adulthood obesity.

With school-based studies, reducing the obesity in this age is one of the most important methods.

THE REASONS OF OBESİTY

In the 21th century, science and technology

1) reduced to zero the human movement

2) increased the refined type food consumption

On the basis of obesity:

a-%60 of limitation of movement

b-%30 of eating disorder

c-%10 of other health problems

As we have seen, health problems constitute very little of obesity.

NEED TO LOOK PAST

No need to count that how much did we eat, It NEEDS TO COUNT that how much did we move.

OBESITY IS NOT AN INSURMOUNTABLE MOUNTAIN

“Although mountain is high, road passes over it”

There are five ways that can surmount the obesity mountain:

1-Not to panic

2-Believe that you can lose weight

3-Not to hurry up

4-To be fed according to your own style

5-To plan sport, exercise and activity according to yourself.

CHOOSE NECESSARILY SAFE FOOD

WARN the people about not buying foods which are sold in open and warn them about eating vegetables and fruits after washing them and the hand cleaning before the eating.

SUPPORT them about getting used to this.

AVOID TO BUY FROM FOODS WHICH ARE

SOLD IN OPEN AND PRODUCED

IN UNCONTROLLED AND UNHEALTHY

CONDITIONS AROUND THE

SCHOOL.

THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL IS THE BREAKFAST.

Nutrients must be taken balanced and sufficient with

3 HOUR INTERVAL(3 MAIN-3 SNACK)

to provide the learning effective and lasting.

TAKE NOURISHMENT ADEQUATE AND BALANCED

DON'T START THE DAY WITHOUT HAVING A BREAKFAST

BREAKFAST IS TOO IMPORTANT FOR STARTING THE DAY HEALTHY, LEARNING AND REMEMBER TO WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED.

DON'T SKIP MEALS

KEEP YOUR WEIGHT

SPEND LESS TIME IN FRONT OF A COMPUTER AND TV, DO SPORTS.KEEP IN YOUR LUNCHBAG

HEALTHY FOODS LİKE;MILK, BUTTERMILK, FRUIT,CHEESE,BREAD,FRE

SH VEGGIES, HARD- BOILED EGGS

Paying attention to these suggestions is too important to keep health for now and future.
