• 27 years ago on this day, Live Aid, a worldwide rock concert organised to raise money for the relief of famine-stricken Africans was officially opened at Wembley Stadium in London.
• Continued at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia and at other arenas around the world, this 16-hour "super-concert" was globally linked by satellite to more than a billion viewers in 110 nations.
• In a triumph of technology and good will, the event raised more than $125 million in famine relief for Africa.

• The opening of the World Education Summit today, would probably go down in the annals of history as a day of similar importance in the domain of education.
• Spread over 3 days, 30 sessions and thought provoking addresses of over 150 eminent speakers, the World Education Summit is all set to make its mark on the educational forefront.
