People’s Republic of China, United States ofAmerica and Russian Federation are the topthree producers of electricity in 2011.

China accounted for 21.3% of globalelectricity production and USA accounted for19.6% in 2011.

France, Paraguay and Canada were the topthree electricity exporters in 2011

France exported 56 Terra watts hours ofelectricity in 2011 followed by Paraguay, 46TWh and Canada 37 TWh.

Italy, USA, Brazil, Finland and Argentina werethe top five importers of electricity in 2011.

Italy imported 46 TWh followed by USA 37TWh, Brazil, 36 TWh, Finland 14 TWH andArgentina 10 TWh.

China is the largest producer ofhydroelectricity in the world. China produced699 TWh of hydroelectricity in 2011, 19.6% ofthe total world electricity production.

World production of electricity was 3566 TWhin 2011.

Brazil, the second largest hydropowerproducer, accounted for 12% and Canadaaccounted for 10.5% world production ofhydroelectricity.

Hydroelectricity has 16.1% share in the worldpower production.

Norway produces 95.3% power fromhydroelectricity, Brazil produces 80.6%,Venezuela produces 68.6%, Canada produces59.0% and Sweden produces 44.3% powerfrom hydroelectricity to meet the energydemand.
