Writing Process- Rough Draft

• After prewriting, you are ready to begin your rough draft.

• A rough draft is your first writing.• Your goal is to simply get your ideas on paper.• Write freely without worrying about spelling,

grammar, or punctuation. You can correct them later.

Revise/ Edit

• When you revise, you make sure your writing is in order, add details, stronger words, and make sure your writing makes sense.

• Make sure your details are clear!• When you edit, you check spelling, grammar,

and punctuation.

Final Draft/ Publish

• Your final draft should always be better than your rough draft; it should also be free of mistakes.

• You can publish your work by: reading it to the class, turning it in to the teacher, displaying it on a bulletin board, or submitting it to a magazine or contest.
