A FEW WORDS FROM MRS PALEY…

Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day, saying,

“I will try again tomorrow.” Mary Anne Radmache

#StaySafe Week Ending: 03 July 2020

YEAR 7 Our students have continued to demonstrate a top class work ethic throughout this week and we have been really pleased with what the Year 7 teachers have been reporting back to us. With only two school weeks left until the summer holidays, we want to encourage all students to continue working hard from home and finish this academic year on a positive note. This week, we have an excellent piece of work produced by Alexa S for her Art project. Keep up the good work Year 7!

Head of Year 7: Mrs L Munro Pastoral Lead: Mr M Leslie

YEAR 8 Year 8 have done some excellent work over the last week and we have been really impressed with what we have seen. Languages have shared some brilliant examples with us and we’ve been particularly pleased to see the development of tasks through purple pen work. All tutors have now made contact to offer calls to their tutor set and it has been lovely to hear what everyone has been up to. For this week’s virtual visit, why not take a walk along the great wall of China! https://www.thechinaguide.com/destination/great-wall-of-china

Head of Year 8: Miss L Hughes Achievement Coordinator: Miss I Ridley

YEAR 9 As always Year 9 have been keeping themselves busy this week with more exceptional work on Teams. We're so impressed with the consistent motivation and positivity that continues to surround our students’ remote learning. Usually we would partake in a Virtual Enterprise Day, commonly known as Popcorn Day, but due to the current situation we've had to put a twist on the norm. Students have been inventing their own flavours of popcorn, designing their own brand all while ensuring their product will be appealing to their target audience. Year 9 have thrown themselves into this new challenge and we look forward to seeing more competition entries over the next week. Well done!

Head of Year 9: Miss N Ward Achievement Coordinator: Miss B Marshall

YEAR 10 Once again it's been another fantastic week in school for Year 10s. The small class sizes and teacher contact time have led to a huge chunk of learning taking place and the students have been tremendously positive regarding the whole experience. We haven't forgotten about those students working from home though and school work is still being uploaded to Teams or Complete Maths. At this time it's also so important that students are looking after their mental health and well-being through doing activities that they enjoy. This week I've heard from students that have set fitness goals, tried arts and crafts activities and baking. Well done to Caer G for baking another amazing cake! Please remind students to try and keep in touch with their tutors as well even if they're in school as we always love hearing from them. Head of Year 10: Mr D Mordue Achievement Coordinator: Miss I Sheldon

STEM Activities While many of us have been disappointed that some of the Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) activities that were planned have obviously had to be cancelled, there are still some fantastic chances to think about STEM pathways, and opportunities, as we head into the summer. Please see the attached STEM Bulletin for further exciting information…... _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
