AMPERE (Avion à Motorisation réPartie Électrique de Recherche Expérimentale) is a distributed electric propulsion

• Numerical design of the distributed propulsion engine integration and its wing blowing effect

• Validation of aerodynamic performance prediction calculations on a motorized (32 fans) windtunnel model on a scale of 1/5th of the prototype, in the ONERA L2 wind tunnel in Lille

Studies already carried out

• Reduction of energy losses due to friction, due to boundary layer ingestion by means of the32 fans located on the wing upper surface

• Take-off and landing over short distances, using engines with a wing blowing effect, whichincreases lift at low speeds

• Engine participation in the steering of the aircraft, a differential thrust resulting in a movementor stabilization of the aircraft

• No discharge of pollutants during the operating phase

• Improved flight safety by pooling functions

The advantages of distributed electric propulsion

Hybrid energy source using:

• fuel cells (in partnership with the Atomic Energy and Alternative Energy Commission (CEA)) suppliedwith pressurized hydrogen at 700 bar;

• ithium-ion batteries, providing transient power during aircraft maneuvers.

The primary objective of the AMPERE project is to bring the distributed electric propulsion technologyto maturity. ONERA seeks to explore innovative solutions in order to provide validated and integrabletechnologies to industry.
