Hardness: Should be not lower than 80 HB/10/500 or 85 HB/10/1000 butthe forgings shall not be rejected on the basis or hardness if '~hetensile property requirements are met.

Grain flow of die forgings, except in areas which contain flash-line endgrain, shal,l follow the general contour of the forging, showing noevidence of re-entrant flow.

3.3.2 Forging Stock: When a sample of stock is forged to a test coupon and heatt-reated in the same manner as the forgi n9s', specimens taken from the heattreated coupon shall conform to the requirements of 3.3.1.1.4 and3.3.1.2. If specimens taken from 'the stock after heat treatment in thesame manner as forgings conform to the requirements of 3.3.1.1.4 and3.3.1.2, the tests shall be accepted as equivalent to tests of a ;orgedcoupon.

3.4 Quality: The product, as received by purchaser, shall be unifornl in qua.lityand condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfect;ionsdetrimental to usage of the product.

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS:

P.esponsibili_ty for Inspection: The vendor of the product shall supply allsamples for vendor's tests and shall be responsible for performing allrequired tests. Results of such tests shall be reported to the purchaser asrequired by 4.5. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform anyconfirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms tothe requirements of this specification,

4.2 Classification of Tests:

4.2.1 Acceetance. Tests: Tests to detennine conformance to the follo\1/ingrequlrements are classified as acceptance tests and shall be perfonned oneach lot:

4.2.1.1 Composition (3.1) of the product.

4.2.1.2 Tensile properties (3.3.1.1) of each lot of forgings.

Visual inspection (3.4.1 of each die and ring forging.

Periodic Tests: Tests of forgings to determine conformance torequirements for hardness (3.3.1.2) and grain flow (3.3.1.3) and offorging stock to determine ability to develop required properties (3.3-.2)are classified as periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequencyselected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified bypurchaser.

4.2.3 p!'eproduction _Tests: Tests of forgings to detennine conformance 'co allapplicable technical requirements of this specifioation when AMS 2375 isspecified are classified as preproduction tests and shall be perfonnedprior to or on the first-article shipment of a forging to a purchaser,when a change in material, processing, or both requires reapproval as in4.4, and when purchaser deems confirmatory testing to be requiredo

5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY:

5.1 Identification: The product shall be identified as follows:

The product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with colTmerc:ialpractice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulationspertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the productto ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.
