I suspect that these maybe specimens of Eupelmus sp. described byDodd (1917: 356) from Agromyza phaseoliwhich are in turn mentioned by Girault atthe end of his description of Eupelmusgray! brevicinctus (1939: 19). I think thatGirault has crossed out the words on thislabel, turned it upside down and placed"gray! Gir." on it. In his original publicationhe describes the ovipositor indicating thathe was dealing with the female sex, but hisPUBL. DATA do not give the number ofspecimens involved. In his unpublishedmanuscript he states that the type was asingle female but his label says "Types 4"with the card bearing two females and onemale. His label on Slide 1 says "Type d 9".His unpublished manuscript gives adescription of the male which fits the maleon Card 1 and its antenna on Slide I. Afterthe description he states, "Male is supposedsame species only". I do not regard themale on Card 1 as having any type-status.When mentioning the extra material fromChinchilla in his unpublished manuscriptGirault says, "Two females, Chinchilla,A.P. Dodd. The valves of the ovipositor in


these specimens were entirely black (in thetype the white apex is dull and perhaps thewhite fades out after death)". Examinationof the remains of the two females on Card1 shows that the outer specimen hasuniform black ovipositor valves whereas inthe inner female the tip was once pale. Iam taking the latter as the remains of theHolotype of this species. The outer femalemay have been a different species but thisis now impossible to tell. If this is so thenGirault's "Types ?" on his label with Card1 is a lapsus.In his unpublished manuscript Giraultplaces this species in the genus Calosota,hence the labels on Cards 2 and 3, andSlide 2. The Queensland Museum registernumber for the Holotype of this species isT.4199.
