Abide by the RulesTheRulesofConductaredesignedtohelpyourepresentyourbusiness,andAmway,inthebestpossiblelight.Besureyouareawareof,andadhereto,theRulesofConductinordertogetthemostbenefitfromyouronlinemarketingefforts.Adheringtothefollowingwillhelpassureyou’reincompliancewiththeRules.

• Brandimagesandlogos–UsingAmway’slogosandproductimagesinyoursocialmediapresenceisnotallowedwithoutauthorizationfromtheCorporation(Rule9.1.).

• Namingyourpage–Amwaywillnotallowtheuseofitstrademarksortradenamesasprofilenamesorpagenames.Useyourownname,aspeoplearemorelikelytorememberyournamethanoneyou’vecreated(Rule9.1.).

• SolicitingforcustomersorIBOs–Solicitingisallowedonlyinaclosedenvironment(i.e.,onlyyourfriendsorfollowerscanseeyourposts)andisnotpermittedinopen/publicforums(Rules4.3.2.,8.3.11.,and9.8.).

• Privacysettings–Manysocialmediasitesallowyoutomanageyourprivacysettingstocontrolwhocanseeyourphotos,profile,yourupdates,andwhocanfollowyou.Amwayrecommendsthatyoumanageyourprivacysettingssoonlyyourfriends,family,andcolleaguescanviewyourupdates.Whenparticipatinginopenforumswhereprivacysettingsarenotavailableorutilized,followingtheRulesofConduct/CommercialPrincipleswillhelpprotectAmway’sreputationandyours.

• Businessandproductclaims–Businessandproductclaimsmustbeaccurateandsubstantiated.Itisrecom-mendedthatonlybusinessandproductclaimsauthoredbytheCorporationbeutilized(Rule4.4.).

• Videos–AnyvideosproducedbypeopleorentitiesotherthanAmwaymustbereviewedandauthorizedbyAmwaypriortobeingusedforyourAMWAY™businessinasocialmediaenvironment(Rule7.).

• Avoidcrosslining–TheremaybeinstancesinyoursocialmediaexperienceswhenyourunintoanIBOfromadifferentLineofSponsorship(LOS)ordifferenttrainingorganization.Ifthisoccurs,werecommendthatyoucheckwithyouruplineforassistance.Don’tusesocialmediatoargue,engageinalongdiscussion,ormessageotherIBOsdirectlyregardingyourLOSoradifferenttrainingorganization.AlthoughyoumaybepartofadifferentLOSorLOA(LineofAffiliation),youbothwanttoachievesuccessthroughyourAMWAYbusiness.Youjustmaybetakingdifferentpathstogetthere(Rules4.15.and4.2.).

Amway’s Social Media Guiding Principles Inordertosucceedwithsocialmedia,youneedtounderstandsome“unwrittenrules”thathelptoguidesuccessfulonlineinteractions.Herearesomeprinciplesthathavehelpedmanybusinesspeoplefindsuccesswithsocialmediamarketing.Infact,Amwayabidesbythesesameprinciplesinitscorporatesocialmediaefforts:

• AlwaysreviewandabidebytheTerms&Conditionsofthesocialmediawebsiteyouareusing.Also,theFederalTradeCommission(FTC)haspublishedits“GuidelinesConcerningtheUseofEndorsementsandTestimonialsinAdvertising.”TheGuidelinesaddresstheuseofsocialmediawhenpromotingproductsandservices.Specifically,whenusingsocialmedia,youmayberequiredtodisclosethatyouarebeingpaidorgivenfreemerchandisebyacompanyorifyouotherwisehaveafinancialinterestinthesaleofanyproductorservicethatyouarecommentingfavorablyabout.TheGuidelinesstatethatboththecompanyandthebloggermaybeheldliableforfailingtodiscloseamaterialconnectionorformakingmisleadingorunsubstantiatedclaimsaboutaproductorservice.

• Betransparent,authentic,andhonest–Betruthfulandaccurateatalltimes.Whatissaidonlinegenerallystaysthereandcanspreadquicklyandwidelythroughlinksorcopying.Misleadingothersormakingfalseclaimsjeopardizesyour–andAmway’s–reputation.Ifyouplantotalkaboutyourbusiness,beopenaboutthefactthatitisanAMWAY™business.SothatyouraudienceunderstandsyourrelationshipwithAmway,andinsomecasestoensureAmwayisincompliancewithlegalrequirements,youmustdisclosethatyouareanAmwayIndependentBusinessOwnerwhendiscussingthebusiness.Youcandothisinyourprofileinformation,orifyouprefer,onlyincommentsthatmentionAmway.
