Key Words: Idioms, the Avengers Movie.

Idiom is the words order that have special meaning which is not

translated in literally. So often phrases containing idioms used in everyday

conversation, because by using an idiom in conversation, it will be more beautiful

and attractive and pleasant to hear.

The aim of this study is finding out what are the kind idiom and the most

dominant idiom words in the film The Avengers. In this study was also to most

dominant kinds idiom contained in the film The Avengers of the famous director

Josh Whedon.

Results of the study based on 50 words and idioms that have been

obtained which represent four kinds idiom. They are classification is neutral,

formal, colloquial and slang.

This research is qualitative. The author uses the film as a source of data

and word idiom found in the film as the data. The author uses several techniques

to collect data. By finding the first film and then watch and understand every

conversation that occurs therein after it identifies by listing the result into a table.

The writer found in the script of the Avengers movie that there are four

kinds of idioms they are Neutral, Formal, Colloquial and Slang. The most

dominant idiom is formal there are 16 kinds idiom. The formal idioms found in

the Avengers movie are 16. Whereas from The neutral idioms found in the

Avengers movie are 13 idioms and colloquial idioms found in the Avenger movie

are 12 idioms. And the last kind is slang idioms found in the Avengers movie are

9 idioms.

Kata Kunci: Idioms, the Avengers Movie.

Idiom adalah susunan kata-kata yang mempunyai arti khusus yang tidak di

terjemahkan secara ektra (literally). Begitu seringnya ungkapan-ungkapan yang

mengandung idiom digunakan dalam percakapan sehari-hari,karena dengan

menggunakan idiom suatu percakapan menjadi indah dan menarik serta sedap

didengar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apa sajakah jenis-jenis dari

kalimat yang terkandung didalam film The Avengers. Dalam penelitian ini juga untuk menghitung jumlah paling banyak jenis idiom yang terkandung dalam film The Avengers dari sutradara terkenal Josh Whedon.

Hasil dari penelitian berdasarkan 50 kata idiom yang telah diperoleh yaitu mewakili empat jenis idiom.Yaitu neutral, formal, colloquial and slang

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif. Penulis menggunakan filmsebagai sumber data dan kata idiom yang ditemukan dalam film sebagai data. Penulis menggunakan beberapa teknik untuk mengumpulkan data. Dengan menemukan film pertama kemudian menonton dan memahami setiap percakapan yang terjadi didalamnya setelah itu mengidentifikasi make daftar tabel hasil.

Hasil dari penelitian berdasarkan 50 kata idiom yang telah diperoleh yaitu mewakili empat jenis idiom.Yaitu neutral, formal, colloquial and slang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian jenisnya yang paling banyak formal menempati urutan teratas dengan jumlah 16 idiom.Neutral menempati urutan kedua dengan jumlah 13 idiom.Colloquial menempati urutan ketiga dengan jumlah 12 idiom. Dan yang terakhir adalah slang dengan jumlah 9 idiom.
