An Epistle from Paul: What You Sow… – Years ago, farmers use to plant their corn forty (40) inches apart. Do you know why? Forty inches was the average width of a plow-horse’s rump. When tractors came into use, farmers could plant corn rows some thirty inches apart and get more corn per acre. Today, farmer Marian Calmer of Henry County, Illinois has made and J.I. Case will market, a device for the front end of a combine which will allow corn rows to be fifteen inches apart. The corn will create its own shade which in turn will provide natural weed control using little to no chemicals… Honestly, this should amaze us. I personally have all the respect in the world for our farmers and the way their efforts contribute to the world’s food supply and economy as a whole… What is my point in bringing all this up? I want to use the above to illustrate and bring out another biblical principle. It is found in Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.” Brethren and friend, I’m seriously concerned about what we are sowing as to the generations that follow us. Aren’t you?! Nothing should be more important than our “sowing” the Truth – God’s Word! This is what we must be sowing both now and into the future. To sow anything less will result in a harvest that is not becoming of our Lord and His Church… We continue to sow the Gospel here at Christ’s Church in Eaton. An Epistle from Paul:What You Sow… – Years ago, farmers use to plant their corn forty (40) inches apart. Do you know why? Forty inches was the average width of a plow-horse’s rump. When tractors came into use, farmers could plant corn rows some thirty inches apart and get

more corn per acre. Today, farmer Marian Calmer of Henry County, Illinois has

made and J.I. Case will market, a device for the front end of a combine which will allow corn rows to be fifteen inches apart. The corn will create its own shade which in turn will provide natural weed control using little to no chemicals…

Honestly, this should amaze us. I personally have all the respect in the world for our farmers and the way their efforts contribute to the world’s food supply and economy as a whole…

What is my point in bringing all this up? I want to use the above to illustrate and bring out another biblical principle. It is found in Galatians 6:7 “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.”

Brethren and friend, I’m seriously concerned about what we are sowing as to the generations that follow us. Aren’t you?! Nothing should be more important than our “sowing” the Truth – God’s Word! This is what we must be sowing both now and into the future. To sow anything less will result in a harvest that is not becoming of our Lord and His Church…

We continue to sow the Gospel here at Christ’s Church in Eaton. May we continue to prove faithful and true in this our task!!

Vacation Bible School – July 9th-13th!The theme for this year’s VBS is “Shipwrecked – Rescued by Jesus”. Each night from 6 PM to 8:15 PM young lives will be encouraged, challenged and led through the Word of God. O, there will be recreation and fun times, but, there will be intense exposure to what the Bible says concerning our need to be rescued by Jesus… Please help us get the word out concerning this year’s effort. Let your neighbors who have young people know this is taking place and make a special effort to give them an invitation…
