Allow me to present my New Year's greeting at the advent of 2013. I would also like to sincerely thank you for all your hard work last year. In welcoming this second new year since the unprecedented disaster of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the after-effects are still great, and I pray for speedy recovery. Now, looking back on the Japanese economy in 2012, although recovery demand and the recovery of automotive production, etc., supported a business recovery, we also saw the Japanese business climate backtracking as a result of the EU problems and deceleration of Chinese economic growth exacerbating fears of a global business slowdown. Looking ahead to 2013, there is cause for worry, and Japanese manufacturers are confronted with various problems such as the strong Yen, electrical power problems, TPP, the European debt crisis, global economic slowdown, and the like, and the economic outlook is uncommonly unclear. In such an environment, I think customers are actively thinking about forays overseas. TAKAMAZ is also thinking of

further enhancing its foreign presence, and is going ahead with setting up a local company in Indonesia. In other regions as well we will strive to provide the kind of service and maintenance that makes customers feel that we are right at their side. Because we are engaged in continuing our unceasing business activities to provide "Income-generating Machines", developing products, and providing the optimum service and maintenance to meet the needs of our customers, whether in Japan or overseas, I ask for your support and inspiration going forward, and earnestly hope for the further development of each and every one of you.

We provide full service to our domestic customers

while enhancing our overseas capabilities.

On September 28, 2012, we held a prayer ceremony for the safety of the expansion work at the TAKAMAZ factory. The expanded factories during the construction will be the production factories for metal machining, warehouse, assembly (sub-assemblies such as spindles, tool slides, etc.), electrical wiring, etc. During construction in China (completion planned in April) unit supply enhancement (50 units/Mo.) accompanying the expansion at Hang Zhou Feeler Takamatsu Machinery, and the Hengjiang factory (metal manufacturing department) will be consolidated at the headquarter factory. In the future, the metal machining production capacity will double by staged installation of the metal manufacturing facilities, and we intend optimum distribution synchronized to production by consolidation of warehouses and introduction of the latest automated warehouse technology. Expanding the assembly and machine work space will contribute to production of large-scale systems (turnkey) where NC lathes are connected, and also the measurement devices, etc., are connected, and increasing the machine tool production capacity by 20%. In addition, as a 21st century factory, it is being constructed with energy savings (use of LEDs for lighting, etc., use of high-efficiency transformers), rooftop wiring, etc., in consideration of the environment, as well as in consideration of CO2 reduction. With the completion of the headquarters factory, we shall supply even more "Income-generating Machines" to the customers.

Favorite Saying / Naseba naru (Just do it).I am Non of TMT. It's been three years since I entered TAKAMAZ. I am in charge of accounting and general affairs. I have

been working for about 12 years at Japanese factories, real estate offices, and import-export companies, etc. Since I can understand Japanese and English to some degree, feel free to talk to me. On my days off, I go shopping with family and friends, and go to nearby beaches for fun. Thailand is a hot country, but it has a lot of scenic places such as the capitol Bangkok and the old capitol Chiangmai with their temples, world heritage sites, and shopping, as well as resort areas surrounded by green such as Phuket island and Samui island. The culture is rich in variety and full of charm. In addition, the food such as Tom Yum Kun and Pad Thai are known throughout the world, and everyone should come here when they have time. See you then!

Favorite Saying /Yicun Guangyin, Yicun Jin (An inch of time is worth an inch of gold)It has been five years since I entered TAKAMAZ. I have been working at Takamaz Trading (Hang Zhou) since

October of last year, and am in charge of China sales operations. I am sticking to my studies of Japanese while performing sales activities. I have customers that order TAKAMAZ products in Japan and use them at factories in China, and customers who purchase directly from Takamaz Trading (Hang Zhou). We are thinking of further introducing TAKAMAZ products in China. I spend my days off at the movie theater, but recently I have been gaining weight so I think I'll be doing sports. I'll try real hard to somehow get back to my original weight by springtime (laughs). When you come to China, feel free to head over to Takamaz Trading (Hang Zhou). Thank you all in advance for your direction and inspiration.

Last year, the METALEX 2012 machine tool trade show was held in Bangkok for four days from November 21 to November 24. TAKAMAZ showed a total of five machines, the XL-150, XL-100, and GSL-15, etc., centering on automation systems. We had many meaningful exchanges, and the show made us feel like we gained a further foothold in Thailand. We think that Japanese manufacturers will further deepen their relationships w i t h T h a i l a n d , a n d TAKAMAZ wants to put more effort into this market than it has previously.

Appearance at Thailand METALEX 2012

The Japan International Machine Tool Fair (JIMTOF 2012) was held at the Tokyo Big Site from November 1 to November 6 of last year. TAKAMAZ displayed a total of nine kinds of machines starting with the "XY-120PLUS", "XB-1000", and the "XL-150", and gave machining demonstrations. With a total number of 128,674 participants, the show was very lively, and about 2,500 people came to the TAKAMAZ booth over the 6 days. We got a total of about 40 unit orders, and these were greatly connected to our product appeal.

▏TAKAMAZ machines are Efficient.—What triggered the introductionof TAKAMAZmachines?

We were engaged in developing new automotive components. While we were studying the introduction of new equipment with a view towards mass production, a company with which we have amicable relation introduced us to TAKAMAZ. After that we went over to Japan to see the actual machines at JIMTOF, and after observing the quality performance, we decided to adopt them.

▏Comply with User Specification Needs—Havingusedthemachines,what'syourimpression?We can see a lot of advantages with these m a c h i n e s . W e a r e f u l l y s a t i s f i ed w i t h t h e c o m p a c t n e s s , h i gh p rec i s ion , and s m o o t h n e s s o f t h e automation equipment. In particular, you make machines that fit our needs exactly by fitting them to the user specifications that we are interested in. Today, 24 TAKAMAZ machines, the X-100, XW-80, XL-100 and others, are operating at our production lines.

▏Winning Support with Quality as a Weapon—Tellusthecharacteristicsofyourcompany. We will send high-quality products to market under the management philosophy of "creating value

through quality", and we have been supported by our customers. Of course, the objectives of quality improvement, cost reduction, and short lead times are a daily undertaking, and TAKAMAZ machines have become one of the driving forces behind these. In addition, Daesung thinks the harmony of our staff members is vital, and so we are also striving to have a comfortable workplace. So that we may grow together, we have started various initiatives, and have disclosed success cases over the past year "improvement days", and looking back over the results of the year, we are implementing "self-control training" in order to establish goals for next year's business plans, and a get-together in the spring, to which employees and their families were invited, in order to further deepen communication among staff members. These initiatives have developed and continued since the company was founded.

▏Customer Oriented Service—WhatareyourfutureexpectationsforTakamaz?Although your follow-up is complete, I do wish you would strengthen your technical support. I suppose it's the same for everyone, but fast response is essential when a machine on a production line goes down. Especially since our company is in Korea, once we get the TAKAMAZ machine parts it takes time for repairs. I would like to construct a system where this can be done more smoothly. Although performance is of course important for machine tools, after-service following product delivery is just as important. Value is also the same sort of thing. If you can be customer-oriented, I think your sales channels will further expand.

We are extremely grateful for Daesung Industries having introduced so many machines. We will take your profound insights and refer to them in the future. I thank you for your future help as we shall be focusing in support that eliminates feeling of anxiety, even in international business.

Overseas Sales Department: Asia RegionTomonori Anata

Since starting the company in 1979, Daesung Industries of Korea has been manufacturing hubs and rotors for air conditioners, as well as automotive components such as engine parts, etc., requiring precision machining. Trying its hand at parts exporting, the sales field of Daesung Industries was not just stuck in Korea. We have asked how TAKAMAZ is providing service to Daesung Industries.

Compact, high-precision. Achieving efficient production.

The wine cellar "Kanaya Shuzoten" in Hakusan city started in 2003 with the concept of "good food at reasonable prices". The fixed course, which varies each day (10 items from hors d'oeuvres to two kinds of fish and meat entrees, and dessert), is provided for 2,985 Yen. It is a creative place, starting from French as a base, and incorporating elements from Japanese cuisine, etc. The food is also freshly prepared, and they have many repeat customers who come every month without fail. The ingredients center on local sources, and only the freshest seafood and vegetables are used. The building, which is a renovated Meiji-era sake factory, has a relaxed "hideaway" atmosphere. It is great for both casual dining and special occasions. They also have a wealth of cocktails starting with Japanese sake for the ladies. Its ease of availability for ceremonial occasions like memorials, and baby's first meal is also attractive, and can be enjoyed by families, couples, friends, and colleagues.
