2020 Seed Guide An Independent, Family Owned Business, Since 1967
From our family owned business, to your family owned farm
In 1967 Woody Funk founded a fertilizer business in Lancaster County PA that was built on serving his customers with excellence and integrity. Helping his growers succeed and meet their goals for their farm was the vision for Chemgro Fertilizer Company, Inc. As we enter our 53rd season, we still have your success at the core of all that we do.
Our goal is the same today as it was 53 years ago: provide you with products and service that you need to maximize your farm’s profit potential. Family owned andindependent means increased options available to fit your specific needs. We are positioned to source a highly diverse base of germplasm, traits and seed products to meet the demands of your farm.
The 2020 class of new Chemgro brand products represents up to 3 years of proven performance testing on farms, soils, and practices similar to yours right here in the north-east/mid-Atlantic region. Your farm and environment present a unique set of challenges each season. Through close relationships with you our customers, our team strives to learn your specific seed and crop needs. Your feedback allows us to make all of our product decisions right here at local level. Our decisions are based on your individual needs and are not driven by corporate share values.
2020 will mark the 5th season that Chemgro brand wheat and soybean seed production will be grown, conditioned and treated locally, right here in PA. We are excited to be among the first to offer a selection of Enlist E3™ soybeans for 2020 planting, grown right here in Lancaster county. These investments reflect our commitment to be in the best position to serve you, our friends and neighbors. Our roots run deep locally… and we ask you to continue growing with us.
Thank you for your business The Funk family and the employees of Chemgro Inc.

Chemgro replicated corn hybrid research
The 2020 class of new Chemgro brand hybrids are the result of up to 3 or more years of testing right here in the northeast/mid-atlantic region. We rigorously test hundreds of genetic combinations each season in order to develop the Chemgro brand corn hybrid line-up. We plant, evaluate and harvest 14 locations of replicated mini-strip trials from the Northern Neck of VA to the Finger Lakes of NY.
2019 Locations: Heathsville, Northumberland Co. VA Osterberg, Bedford Co. PA Princess Anne, Somerset Co. MD East Waterford, Juniata Co. PA Rising Sun, Cecil Co. MD Reedsville, Mifflin Co. New Harvxtra™ Alfalfa with Roundup Ready® Technology HarvXtra™ Alfalfa is the industry’s first genetically
enhanced alfalfa technology developed to maximize quality compared to conventional alfalfa at the same stage of maturity, by reducing the amount of lignin in the plant.
HarvXtra™ Alfalfa gives growers the ability to bettermanage the yield-versus-quality tradeoff. It offers more flexibility in cutting schedule to achieve improved forage quality or greater yield potential, when compared to conventional alfalfa at the same stage of maturity.
HarvXtra™ Alfalfa has on average 12-15% less ligninand 12-15% higher NDFd and RFQ than conventional alfalfa harvested at the same stage of maturity.
HarvXtra™ Alfalfa is stacked with Roundup Ready®
Technology for unsurpassed weed control with excellent crop safety.

Silage Inoculants & Forage Preservatives 36
Chemgro SI2020 dry & WS has been enhanced to speed silage fermentation withfaster lactic acid production, and lowering the pH of forage quicker than other brands. Faster fermentation means higher RFV at feedout.
SI2020 has a variety of fast acting bacteria that will produce lactic acid quickly, forproper fermentation over a range of pH’s and in tough situations like preserving alfalfa in bunker silos.
Properly fermented & stabilized forage results in improved feeding value and animalperformance—the proof is in the forage test and in the bulk tank.
50 lb. Dry Formula treats 100 tons: significantly lower cost/ton vs. competition WS Formulation treats 100 Tons: WS formulation contains lactobacillus plantarum,
pediococcus acidilactici, streptococcus faecium, and pediococcus pentosaceus
NEW! Chemgro SI2020 Dry & WS (water soluble) Silage Inoculants
A more, concentrated lactic acid producing silage inoculant for large volumeapplications with Big Choppers and other large commercial harvesting equipment
SI2000BC = 250 gram pack treats 250 tons of forage & SI2018BC500 treats 500 Ton
SI2000BC & SI2018BC500 “Big Chopper” WS Silage Inoculants
Chemgro Prop Plus is a specially formulated, superior product to be used on HMC(high moisture corn) and haylage
Prop Plus dry and Prop Plus WS contain two specific, breakthrough strains ofbacteria that produce propionic acid, to keep your crop fresh through fermentation
Propionic acid retards yeast and molds that cause spoilage, promotes lactic acidproduction for thorough fermentation, and keeps the pH low to keep “feed out” nutrition levels high
Prop Plus provides improved DM feed value recovery and Extended Bunk Life throughfeed out
50 lb. bag dry or WS100 pouch treats up to 100 tons of forage & WS500 treats 500T
Chemgro Prop Plus Silage Inoculant Dry or WS100 & WS500
“Economically protecting your forage crop investment ”You will have spent hundreds of $$$/acre to put out your forage crop this year. Hopefully the weather has coop-erated and fall is the time to harvest and store the crop. However, this is only part of the profitability equation, the payback comes when you feed the stored crop to your livestock in future months. Your crop has it’s maxi-mum feed value the day you harvest it. Ferment, stabilize and protect that investment as quickly as possible. Dozens of independent university and industry studies demonstrate the very positive economic benefits of using silage inoculants and preservatives to protect your harvested forage crop. Most see a return of $10 in improved RFV (Relative Feed Value) and the resulting increase milk & meat production per $1 spent on inoculant. Chemgro has a complete line-up of high quality, dry and water-soluble inoculants at very economical prices per treated ton compared to the “big brand name” companies out there. Ask your Chemgro representative for more information and pricing. Pre-order with your seed corn & alfalfa for maximum savings!!
As with all silage inoculant and preservative products, please consult the product label for specific use directions.
