About Us: We are committed to increasing access, decreasing error, and improving the quality of health and health services in our community through a collaborative interprofessional network. Our local chapter is part of an international movement that recognizes that we are all patients at some point and that patients should come first.
Activities: Internal Establishment of a monthly
membership meeting that includes QI learning activity
Development of comprehensive chapter website www.portlandopenschool.com that includes video recordings of events
Strategic planning to support chapter sustainability goals
Ongoing planning of community educational events
External Utilization of social media to promote
activities and raise awareness of QI/health policy issues
Engagement with other relevant student groups and community stakeholders to co-facilitate events
Attendance at monthly PSU faculty meetings
Ongoing collaboration by individual members and academic institutions on QI projects
Coordination with West Coast Open School efforts
Goals: Short term Leadership team members complete
the Basic Open School Certification Focus on establishing sustainable
infrastructure including leadership role development, standard operating procedures, and project management skills
Expand membership recruitment efforts to target additional health professions training programs including nursing and pharmacy
Recruit and engage additional faculty representatives
Sponsor community-based events that highlight current local innovations in health policy and services
Develop regular student QI project grand rounds
