What is Permaculture

Permaculture is a system based on designing settlements that aim to co-exist with the natural world as well as improve and sustain the quality and longevity of human life. It aims to create stable and productive communities that provides for human needs without coming at the cost of the natural world. 

Care of the Earth

In the strictest sense, Care of the Earth relates to caring for the soil so that it can bear so that one can tell if the planet is ‘healthy.’ This is often illustrated by the amount of life that springs forth from the soil.

Care of People

While caring for people entails caring for the larger community, it at first starts with caring for ourselves. Only once our own individual needs have been met can we begin to focus on others. This is accomplished through becoming more self-reliant and forgoing materialistic wants and desires.
