In Britain you can start driving when you are seventeen. Before you take yourtest you are a‘learner’ driver. You have to drive with a qualified person and have a red letter ‘L’ on the front and the back of your car. The driving test inBritain is taken in two parts. First you have to take a written test. It is called the ‘Theory Test’. I took mine a month ago and it wasn’t too bad. I passed. So now I have to take the ‘Practical Test’. During this test you have to drivethrough the streets while an examiner sits next to you and asks you to do certain special manoeuvres like park parallel to the pavement, reverse round a corner and turn in the street. The last time I drove my instructor was pleased with me and Tom thinks I should pass. So, wish me luck!”
