A key part of the strategy for SAP Intelligent Enterprise Framework is taking away the complexity and integration responsibilities from our customers by supporting connected business processes.

The source-to-pay business processes based on SAP Intelligent EnterpriseFramework include a connected procurement process achieved throughprebuilt integration between SAP Ariba® solutions and SAP S/4HANA®.

The resulting source-to-pay process support provides the users with a seam-less procurement experience across SAP Ariba solutions and SAP S/4HANA Cloud and includes strategic sourcing as well as procurement. This integra-tion empowers our customers to effectively manage all spend categories through support for a fully integrated, end-to-end procurement process leveraging best-of-breed SAP applications on Ariba Network.

Source-to-pay process support encompasses several business scenarios that provide a wide range of functions to enable smooth and optimized buying processes within an enterprise. These scenarios are SAP S/4HANA integration with:

• SAP Ariba Sourcing solution (Scope Item 4BL) • SAP Ariba Contracts solution (Scope Item 4AZ) • Guided buying capability with the SAP Ariba Buying solution (Scope Item 2NV)

• Ariba Network (Scope Item 42K), comprising the following: – Supplier quote automation – Automated purchase to pay – Lean services

• Automation of order to invoice with Ariba Network (Scope Item 4A1) • Guided buying capability for central procurement with SAP Ariba Buying (Scope Item 3EN)

• Contract for central procurement with SAP Ariba Contracts (Scope Item 4B0)

How does the SAP Intelligent Enterprise Framework methodology support intelligent source to pay?

Feature Description

New user interface (UI)

SAP plans to activate the new user experience for all five subprocesses. A new UI is scheduled to be available by default to all Ariba Network users – both buyers and trading partners.

The new user experience follows SAP Fiori® user experience (UX) standards. We anticipate that users will see the following changes:

• A revamped login page, header, and footer • New global navigation bar to easily switch between applications • Icons that will replace the settings, help center, and user menu • A drop-down list that replaces subtabs for Inbox, Outbox, and more • Their account type (standard or enterprise) displayed on the screen • Consistent typography, iconography, action placement, and shell bar and colors across all SAP products

Core integration elements

The core integration defines how interfaces between SAP applications need to look to ensure full integration. The technology guidelines in this cluster specify how APIs and domain models should be aligned, how master data and code lists should be exchanged, and how extension mechanisms should work. If the guidelines are adopted, customers benefit from shared master and process data throughout all SAP applications without the burdens of duplicate maintenance efforts.

User provisioning With automated provisioning, SAP plans to deliver ready-to-use tenants. This will avoid complicated, manual setups for our customers after they license software products.

NEW FEATURESSome of the exciting reasons installed-base customers want our integrated source-to-pay solutions include:

• One configuration • Master data • Lower TCO • Standardization • Real-time analytics*

The following new features play a key role in these areas.

Feature Description

Identity management To enable full process integration and simplify user management and role management for customers, SAP is implementing centrally administered user management and identity provisioning. When this functionality is available, users will be able to use single sign-on and cross-navigate across various SAP applications using a preconfigured SAP service that supports standardized integration with third-party identity providers. This will benefit business and IT users in various ways.

Business UsersThey are planned to have a single consistent login experience that authenticates them to all of the SAP applications they use.

IT UsersIT users are anticipated to gain: • A single authentication mechanism to implement for all SAP applications in their IT landscape, which will significantly reduce the maintenance and number of points required for authenticating with their user identity provider

• A single user-data maintenance mechanism to implement for all SAP applications in their IT landscape, which will significantly reduce the complexity and maintenance of integration points, and reduce the number of integration points used for user-data maintenance with their identity provider

Reference architecture

The reference architecture “cluster” defines how to capture cross-unit architecture decisions. Business architecture and software architecture documentation helps to align multiple stakeholders inside SAP. In addition, customers and partners can use the reference architecture to understand how SAP applications and services interact to support the addressed business scenarios.

Embedded analytics* SAP applications are anticipated to embed or integrate the SAP Analytics Cloud solution for analytical and reporting use cases. When this functionality is released, customers will be able to immediately access analytic insights based on SAP Analytics Cloud within individual standard SAP applications. SAP also plans to provide prebuilt content for cross-application analytics. This will give users real-time analytical insights based on the data from different SAP applications – all with a consistent and aligned user experience.

* Planned to become available later in 2020 or in early 2021.

No, SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway is part of SAP Cloud Platform, which is part of the subscription.

Does a customer need to procure a new integration license or tenant for SAP Cloud Platform?

We plan for SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway to serve as the integration layer between the SAP Ariba solution components and SAP S/4HANA and SAP S/4HANA Cloud software on the back end. The only change is that we are moving away from IDoc and from EDI-based integration to API-based integrations.

What are the short- term and midterm plans for SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway?

The new integrations go beyond pure data and transactional integration. SAP now offers complete business process integration covering these aspects: • Integrated governance, such as through centralized identity and access management

• Integrated user experience, such as through an integrated, consistent, and consumer-like look and feel across all solutions in scope, based on SAP Fiori as a single UX technology

Existing integrations are now being delivered with API-based technology using the SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway solution as the integration layer, making SAP Ariba and SAP S/4HANA Cloud solutions more flexible and extensible. All APIs are planned to be published on SAP API Business Hub. In addition, support for various new end-to-end processes that integrate source-to-pay processes are planned to be rolled out with native API-based integration. New functionality includes contracts, sell-side integration, and lean services. New suite qualities include unified user experience, single sign-on using access management, and industry reference architecture for end-to-end flows.

If customers can connectSAPS/4HANACloud to source-to-pay solutions from the SAP Ariba portfolio through native integration, what’s new and what is the technical difference?

SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway enabled by integration using SAP Cloud Platform is a game changer, simplifying and expediting integra-tion. SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway helps automate procurement and optimize supply chain processes, making integration simpler, self-service oriented, and fast.

If customers already have an integrated solution running, what value will they gain by integrating through the SAP Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway solution?
