Ashley Kidwell
Our “Resident of the Month” for August
is Kayleen George or Kay for short! Kay has
been a resident at BCMCF for a little over
two years. She has three sons, three
daughters and many grandkids. Kay worked
as a waitress when she was younger. She
loves to be warm and can be seen rolling by
with a warm blanket around her shoulders.
Even though Kay is a keep to herself person
and a bit of a recluse in her earlier life, she
has made many friends at BCMCF and our
staff just loves her. Congratulations Kay!
Our employee of the month for August is Ashley Kidwell. Ashley, an RN Supervisor,
has been employed with BCMCF since February 8, 2008. She has a warm,
contagious smile, an easy going personality and she is very comforting to her residents.
Ashley is always willing to help and goes above and beyond to make everything great for her residents, as well as her co-workers. She is a very loyal and dedicated to BCMCF
and it definitely does not go unnoticed. Thank you for all you do!
Congratulations to YOU Ashley!

Sharks are Disappearing!
Global reports reveal an alarming drop in the
worldwide shark population. Sharks are
disappearing from numerous locations around
the world. Scientists drop baited cages down
into the ocean in many different spots to see
how many sharks show up. Sadly out of almost
400 reefs, 20% of them had no sharks appear.
This could be due to fisherman catching them
for shark meat but scientists are simply not
sure. There are some sharks around but there
are not enough of them to eat the marine
population. Sharks need to eat other species in
the ocean so that they do not over populate.
They are now thought to be “functionally going
extinct”. In the end, healthy shark populations
make for healthy reefs. Hopefully the world is
listening and people and our government will
step in and help to get our shark population
into a better spot.

BCMCF NEWS Welcome New Employees
WE HAVE A WHALE
OF A GOOD TIME HERE!
Dawn Gould - “The Ocean is my favorite place to be! The coolest
place I have ever been is a fishing village in Jamaica. There were all
sorts of sea creatures and the coolest one was a sea star which is just
like a star fish but only has four points instead of five.”
Katie Roper - “ When I was in Grand Caymen, I went out into the
middle of the ocean to swim with stingrays. The stingrays were
wild and come to the sandbar every day to feed on the remains
of fish that fisherman would dump into the water. It was a very
cool experience.
Pam O’Hare - “ I swam with dolphins, stingrays & tropical fish in
Florida’s Discovery Cove. It was an awesome experience! I also
enjoy spending time at the ocean with my family.”

Congratulations to “Sky” our BCMCF highlighted August
Pet of the Month! She was named after the Beatles song
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. She is a two and a half
year old Red Merle Australian Shepard. She lives with
her mom, Bonnie Thomas, who is a Housekeeper here at
BCMCF. They live in the country where they have lots of
room to play with big sister Rigby. Her favorite things to
do are go for truck rides, play ball and eat treats. Her
favorite treats are fresh veggies and fruit but she loves
Munger potatoes and popcorn most of all. If her mom
brings popcorn home from BCMCF she can smell it as
soon as she steps in the house. She may try and hide the
popcorn, but Sky can sniff out the delicious popcorn. Sky
is so glad that her mom chose her because she is really
loved and has the best doggy life.
