The first question gives us insight into the type of age the people who answered our survey were, all of the people who actually answered our survey were between the ages of 15 and 16, this may be to do with the availability of technology for people of this age group. This may influence our decision to create our target audience based around this age group as we have results about what this age group of people enjoy and don’t enjoy to watch. Age is a very important factor for us and from this we have to deduce where we want our BBFC certificate to fall, we only started the survey on 15 so that if our film fell under the category of a 15 we would still be able to use all of the results from this survey as they would still be a possible audience member. Age also helps us to create a product which will be intriguing for a stereotyped age group, for example middle aged men stereotypically like action adventure films as they offer escapism from their work and other factors of everyday life. They will also aspire to be like the main character of the movie. The second question allows us to see who actually answered our survey gender wise, from the results we can see that 2/3 of the results came from females. This is okay because we are pretty sure our target audience will be focused on females, this means we will have to use thing which are stereotypically associated witch what girls find interesting. Gender is a very important part of creating a product for an audience because there are certain stereotypes which are known for each gender. For example girls like romantic films as an aspiration purpose. Whereas, men are more likely to like action films or similar. Although girls may like action films they are not intended to be interesting for them as they are relying on a male audience to form the majority of the viewership. Most times movies will include something which will be interesting for a different member of society, for example an action adventure will have a romantic storyline to attract audience viewership.

The first question gives us insight into the type ofage the people who answered our survey were, all of the people whoactually answered our survey were between the ages of 15 and 16,this may be to do with the availability of technology for people of thisage group.

This may influence our decision to create our targetaudience based around this age group as we have results about whatthis age group of people enjoy and don’t enjoy to watch.

Age is a very important factor for us and from thiswe have to deduce where we want our BBFC certificate to fall, weonly started the survey on 15 so that if our film fell under the categoryof a 15 we would still be able to use all of the results from this surveyas they would still be a possible audience member.

Age also helps us to create a product which will beintriguing for a stereotyped age group, for example middle aged menstereotypically like action adventure films as they offer escapism fromtheir work and other factors of everyday life. They will also aspire tobe like the main character of the movie.

The second question allows us to see who actuallyanswered our survey gender wise, from the results we can see that2/3 of the results came from females.

This is okay because we are pretty sure our targetaudience will be focused on females, this means we will have to usething which are stereotypically associated witch what girls findinteresting.

Gender is a very important part of creating aproduct for an audience because there are certain stereotypes whichare known for each gender. For example girls like romantic films as anaspiration purpose. Whereas, men are more likely to like action filmsor similar.

Although girls may like action films they are notintended to be interesting for them as they are relying on a maleaudience to form the majority of the viewership. Most times movieswill include something which will be interesting for a differentmember of society, for example an action adventure will have aromantic storyline to attract audience viewership.

Ethnicity is not as big of a factor for audience thesedays, however it is still taken into consideration. An example would bethat something like a gardening show is aimed at an older whiteaudience as according to stereotypes old white people enjoygardening compared to other ethnicities.

The majority of our survey was filled out with peoplewho were white, we will probably put this categorisation into targetaudience as we are thinking of doing a fairy tale based story andaccording to stereotype white females will have grown up with suchstories compared to a different category of person.

Although as said ethnicity is not as much of acontributing factor as our society of so diverse it would be difficult orseen as politically incorrect to do so.

The fourth question is all about how often our audience go tothe cinema. Surprisingly the highest selected was ‘once a year’, this is bothsurprising and not shocking. It is interesting as going to the cinema, especially foryoung people, is something they will do for an activity with their friends howeverit is not so surprising because of streaming and downloading of video illegallyonline. This is especially true of the younger generation as they have easy assessand understanding of the internet and do not, for the most part, have a job, andso cannot afford for the cinema.

Again we were shocked that the next selected option was‘more than once every two weeks’. This gives us a real mix of how the audiencewill interact with our product. We will both have to make it want to be watchedthrough cinema, perhaps with the adding of technological developments such as3D. We will also have to conceder how to make up for the lost revenue which iscaused by the streaming of products perhaps through merchandise.

This question allows us to see who those who go tothe cinema go to the cinema with. People mostly go with their friendshowever some go with their boyfriend / girlfriend. These both meanthey go to the cinema with people of their age group. This means wecan make our product very focused on one age group as we do notneed to consider older parents or siblings who may be older oryounger.

The sixth question allows us to see what is the favourite genre of filmfor the audience. From the results we can see that the most selected was ‘fantasy’which is good as we are most probably going to create a fantasy film for our openingsequence. This means that our movie will be instantly interesting for our audience if wefollow the given conventions for this genre.

The next selected option was horror, we may contain elements ofhorror within our opening sequence to capture the attention of those who prefer thisgenre, this will make our product interesting for a wider range of people and thereforemore people will want to go and see it.

The last question is similar in the fact that is about what genre of film people donot like as much. The most selected option is ‘Crime’, ‘Musical’ and ‘Western’. Thispurely means we should avoid things which are connotations of these movie genres. Asyou can see fantasy has no votes for being someone’s least favourite genre which meanswe are pretty safe with picking fantasy as it is a like genre by the target audience.
