Wordle is a word-cloud generator, found at wordle.net. Copy-and-paste a job description into the wordcloud generator. Words that are used most frequently in the description will be bigger than words that are used less frequently in the description. Copy-and-paste your resume or cover letter into the generator to see how it compares to the job description word cloud. This service is completely free. Your computer does require Java.

What is Wordle?

• Wordle is a word-cloud generator, found at wordle.net.

• Copy-and-paste a job description into the wordcloud generator. Words that are used most frequently in the description will be bigger than words that are used less frequently in the description.

• Copy-and-paste your resume or cover letter into the generator to see how it compares to the job description word cloud.

Creating a word cloud using Wordle.net

Go to www.wordle.net and click on “Create”.

Copy-and-paste the entire job description into the text box and click “Go”.

Note: you must have Java Script enabled to continue.

The words that appear the biggest in the word cloud are the ones that are used the most frequently in the job description.

For a more defined word cloud, click on “Layout”, “maximum words”, and in the pop-up box, type in “25” or “50”. This will give you the most frequently used 25 or 50 words in the job description.
