PARISH MEMBERSHIP: All new families are welcome to the Parish and every family should be properly registered. Registration forms are available at the Rectory. Use of the electronic giving (Faith Direct) or envelope system is required if statement of contribution is sought for tax purposes. All parishioners should use either one of the do-nation forms. If you move or change your address, please notify the Rectory by mail. SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM: First Sunday of each month at 1:30 PM only. Parents should make arrangements by call-ing the Rectory no later than 2 weeks before the Baptism. H omeless men living under Flushing Meadow

Bridges need clothing For a number of years now and thanks to the generosity of our parishioners; every Sunday morning during the winter months, we bring hot choco-late, a sandwich and some warm clothes to a group of homeless men living under the bridges and surrounding areas of Flushing Meadows Corona Park. These are men who for different reasons have given up on life and seen unable to cope with it. As the cold weather approaches, once again we are preparing to start our mission and we need clothing. If you have warm clothes and blan-kets that are clean and in good condition and would like to donate them please call us and we will pick them up. Not only are her Kindergarten children enriched every day with her outstanding mix of curriculum and the arts but her choreography skills were evident in this year’s Christmas Concert. The finale was an outstanding tribute to the talents our Catholic School teachers possess. This year’s theme for Catholic Schools week is “Catholic Schools Celebrate Service”. St. Anastasia has a proud tradition of service to the community and to those in need as evidenced by the many service projects performed and the new “Academy” will continue that tradition.

Movie Club is offered to adults only. We are selecting movies that are interesting, inspiring, sometimes forgotten, thought-provoking and artistically significant. We use the Youth Cen-ter, which is equipped with AC, comfy couches, decent stereo sound and big-size projec-tion screen. Snacks, wine and soda are served.

Altar Servers

The St. Anastasia Altar servers will meet Tuesday February 10 at 7:00 PM in the church. All servers must attend. Please bring a parent. The meeting is important and will be a brief as possible.

Youth Group After the last very successful “iLock” lock-in, the St. Anastasia Youth Group is ready to spend another night on talks, candle-lit Mass, plenty of fun and activi-ties that knit us very closely as a group of teenagers. This time we will take the opportunity and celebrate the last few moments before Ash Wednesday, which traditionally are called Carnival (or Mardi Gras). Because our group’s slogan is “we dare to be different”, thus we will celebrate the 2009 Carnival in own unique way, called “CarnYOUTHal”. This lock-in will focus on issues such as: joy, celebration, fun, creativity and happiness. We will try to determine what it means to have fun in a Christian way. Saturday, February 21 at 3 PM through Sunday, February 22 at 10-ish AM Cost: $15 a person (all fun included) Requirement: have you homework done, before you have fun with us! Knights of Columbus St. Anastasia Knights of Columbus Council #5911, vocations committee in Douglaston, has hosted a special Vocations Sunday on January 25, 2009. The priest at each Mass did speak about Jesus’ first call of disciples. Our Council is sponsoring Stanley Celius, a seminarian, who spoke why he was studying to become a priest. At the 10 AM Mass, our Grand Knight, Neal Fenton, pre-sented him with a check for $500 to aid him with his expenses.
