Forum RomanumSome of the oldest and most important structures from Ancient Rome are located in the Roman Forum. The forum served as a city square and central hub where the people of Rome gathered for politics and faith. It was also the center of commerce for Rome.

Ponte RottoKnown to the Ancient Romans as Pons Aemilius, this is Rome’s oldest bridge. This bridge was preceded by a wooden version, whose origin is unknown. However, the current version of this bridge was rebuilt in the 2nd century

The Roman ColosseumOriginally dubbed the Flavian Amphitheatre, the Roman Colosseum is the largest of its kind. Located just east of the Roman Forum, the Colosseum took nearly ten years to build and can seat up to 50,000 people. The Colosseum was used for gladiator fights as well as general public spectacles and it is believed that over 500,000 people and animals died within these walls.

Arch of Constantine

The Arch was built in honor Constantine’s victory over Maxentius. The arch took over 3 years to build and stands 21 meters high. It was dedicated in 315 A.D. The Arch is decorated with many pieces of older monuments which symbolizes Constantine’s victory over and reshaping of the old into the new.
