The main image, which is of the actor Daniel Craig is covering letters of the magazines name, this suggests that the magazine is well known and does not need to be seen fully. The fact that his image is covering the masthead implies that he is overpowering the magazine. Daniel Craig is wearing a black suit, which symbolises power and authority. He is also carrying a gun which further conforms the fact that he is a powerful character. Daniel Craig's facial expression is serious and he is looking to the side which suits his character in the film ‘Skyfall’.

The background of the magazine is white which is affective as this will allow the text and image on the magazine cover to stand out. This also allows the features on the magazine to be clear and easily readable.

Barcode and date are essential as it informs the audience when the magazine was published.

The masthead of the magazine ‘Empire’ is gold, this is affective as it continues the colour scheme of the film poster. The identity of ‘James Bond’ is ‘007’ which is also in gold, which perhaps relates to the title. The colour gold connotes luxury, success, prestige, sophistication and achievement which links to the main image of Daniel Craig, who is dressed in a suit and is looking very smart.

The main title of the magazine is the name of the film ‘Skyfall’. In the films context "Skyfall" is the name of James Bond's ancestral home in Scotland. Or, more accurately, was. The title of the film stands out against the black background (Daniel Craig’s suit). This is affective as it would immediately grab the audiences attention.

The cover lines on the magazine are the names of other films that are being released such as, Taken 2, Bait 3D, Die Hard 5 and Oliver Stone. This is a form of advertisements for those films, this is important as it contributes to the promotional package. The fact that the film Skyfall is being advertised on this well known, established magazine shows the purpose of a promotional package and how it is important as it is clearly evident.

The background of the poster is black. This allows the writing on the poster and the main image to stand out. The codes and conventions of the colour black are authority and power, this links to the genre of the film as a typical action movie always has heroic powerful main protagonist, which in this case is James Bond.

Daniel Craig is wearing a black suit, which symbolises power and authority. He is also carrying a gun which further conforms the fact that he is a powerful character. Daniel Craig's facial expression is serious and he is looking to the side which suits his character in the film ‘Skyfall’.

The credits are at the bottom of the poster . The font and the colour are not clear which suggests that the information is not as important compared to the rest of the poster. Daniel Craig is holding a gun this immediately informs the

audience that the genre of the film is action as a gun connotes danger and violence. The gun stands out to the audience as it gold and it stands out against the Daniel Craig’s black suit.

The identity of ‘James Bond’ is ‘007’ which is also in gold, which perhaps relates to the title.

The genre of the film is made very clear due to the features and the colour scheme of this poster. The main colours on the poster are white, black and gold these colours work well together to add a theme to the poster.

What makes a Film/ Magazine Poster successful ? • Attention Grabbing- the most important thing in a poster is that it has to be attention grabbing as

this would encourage them to look and read the features on the poster• The most successful posters are iconic as they would present the theme and genre without saying

what it is about, 'showing without telling’• Creating interest to the audience- there should be something interesting on the poster so that the

audience is intrigued. This would encourage them to go and watch the film • Style- the style of the poster should link to the theme/genre of the film so that it does not

confuse the audience• Simplicity- it is vital that the poster is simple at there is not a lot going on. This is so the audience

could easily analyse the poster without missing out on any important information such as dates, price etc…

• Recognisable- it is essential that the poster is recognisable so that it grabs the audiences attention
