Coach House 1 is the final building of this old estate’s paper mills and stables to be re-imagined and given a modern and creative personality by renowned Kingston Lafferty Design.

The aim of this project was to retain the character and features of the original coach house whilst creating something unique and exciting with all the comforts of modern day living.

Brimming with character, charm and original detail. Interesting spaces, nooks & alcoves. The original building has been juxtaposed with a modern, minimal and streamlined extension bringing the floor area to approx. 3,076 SQ. FT.

With varied and unconventional vantage points throughout the house, a walk through is an exciting experience with multiple routes and ways to utilise the spaces. Mild steel portals link the different areas and a floating timber stairs acts as a strong feature connecting the stone walls. Maximising the beautiful exterior spaces, there are not one but two exterior terraces, one linking the indoor to outdoor via a fully-tiled cantilevered table and bi-folding window detail.

The material palette is a perfect fusion of original, industrial and raw features with highly sophisticated polished marble, walnut and brass. The kitchen acts as an architectural insert into the stone and brick archways revealing a beautiful and unusual framed view.
