You do not have to follow the exact order provided above, but you must include each item on the list.

• You must share a quote from memory.• WHAT was said.• WHO said it.• WHEN was it was said.• WHY was it said.• Tell us anything you can to provide additional information about the

CONTEXT in which it was spoken.• Most importantly, tell us WHY it means something to YOU.

And now the hard part…• Your quote speech needs to take ONE minute of our time. This

means that you need to practice OUT LOUD. Remember, most of us speak faster when in front of others, so have some back up material ready to go should you run out of things to say with time left on the clock.

• Decide on a clear ending. Let us know you have wrapped things up. Don’t just cut off at one minute.

Most of all…• Have fun!!• This is your lab – your time to prove to yourself that you can pull

brilliant quotes out of your brain at the drop of a hat (or when Ms. Huckabee calls your name and forces you to go ).

• Remember that none of us is perfect. That’s what makes life interesting.

• Celebrate the success of your classmates. You are going to be amazed by one another.

One more thing…

•You need to go to the link on my website and enter your quote by the end of school tomorrow. This is worth 5 points of your quote speech grade. (It’s under Public Speaking, Speeches, and on the And I Quote tab -

where these slides are also located ,so you’re probably already there…)
