It’s the 5mb memory storage unit that was used in IBM’s 305 RAMAC computer released in 1956. It was the world’s first “hard drive”.

The 305 RAMAC could be leased from IBM for $3200 per month.

Makes you really appreciate your 4mb thumb drive.

Statements are from Internet sources so authenticity is not guaranteed . . . but interesting anyway

In July 2007 scientists from MIT elluminated a 60W light bulb from 2 metres away.

In March 2010 appliance maker Haier powered a 32” television without wires.

A big improvement on the 1890 attempt, when NikolaTesla first switched on his 200-foot-tall, 1,000,000-volt Colorado Springs tower, 130-foot-long bolts of electricity shot out of it, sparks leaped up at the toes of passersby, and the grass around the lab glowed blue.
