To Whom It May Concern:
I would appreciate your consideration as a qualified candidate for the position Safety and Health Manager. For the past nine years, I have worked as an Emergency Specialist for US Steel Fairfield Works. Therefore, I have immense knowledge of safety and health in an industrial environment. For three years during this time, I held the position of Joint Union Management Safety Chairman. I worked with management to develop and review safe job procedures, as well as electrical control procedures. I conducted safety audits in different areas and worked to find and eliminate unsafe working conditions in our facilities. I performed investigations on various incidents (with and without injury and near misses) to find the root cause and prevent future incidents. I have worked on several construction projects as a safety representative at my current place of employment. After becoming a JUM Safety Chairman, I felt a desire to pursue a degree in Occupational Safety and Health. I have obtained an AAS Degree and am currently a senior at Columbia Southern University pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
I have extensive work experience as a Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, and Emergency Management Assistant. In all of these professions, working safely is the top priority. I have thorough knowledge of hazardous materials, confined space, high angle rope rescue, fire suppression systems, and many safety programs that are found in an industrial setting which has enabled me to train employees in such safety programs. I have taken classes to obtain a leading role in safety such as safety auditor, incident investigation process and OSHA 511 for general industry. Due to my experience as a firefighter, I have excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask at a fast pace. Accordingly, I am very organized and highly proficient with Microsoft Office. I also have experience in all different types of evacuation drills. All of my professions have required me to work as a public servant and I enjoy building relationships.
Again, I appreciate your consideration for this position and I believe I am well qualified to do the job.
Sincerely,
Andrew M. Hall
