Summary

I am a detail-orientated Accountant with over 20 years’ experience effectively maintaining

accurate financial information for a large-Government Agency & a private company in the mobile

telecommunications sector.

I enjoy being part of a dynamic team and also being a team leader. I have experience at creating

clear and comprehensive financial reports for review by senior management.

I have a proven track record of successfully dealing with major shareholders, internal and external

customers, IT developers & auditors both from the National Audit Office & Price Waterhouse.

Skills

Currently studying ACCA

to version 12.2

Use of Oracle Discoverer including report writing

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access

Ability to write macros in MS Excel using Microsoft Visual Basic

Experience of staff management

Good communication skills

Employment History

July 2006 to recent

Hutchison 3G UK Ltd (Three) -Maidenhead

I maintain 3 Asset Registers with a combined gross book value of £4 billion and a combined total of

70,000 assets. I have overseen the development of several bespoke enhancements to the standard

Oracle Assets functionality which has improved processing capability. This involved persuading

senior managers of the need for change and ensuring that the IT development work was successfully

completed on budget and to the deadlines.

I carry out all end-of-month processing activities and prepare the balance sheet reconciliations. I

have developed several Visual Basic routines to cut formatting and report production time and this

has saved approx. 1 man day per month. I ensure that month-end reporting is timely and accurate

and that any variations between the monthly depreciation charge and the depreciation budget are

understood.

I prepare reports & data in response to audit deliverables & complete Notes to the Financial &

Statutory Accounts. In addition , I am involved with mandatory returns for the regulatory body

OFCOM as well as for the Office of National Statistics. This work involves presenting information to

the General Ledger team and the Legal & Regulatory Affairs section in a way that it is easily

understood as well meeting the requirements of the external parties. I received a special bonus for

my work on the recent OFCOM return.

I work closely with the Oracle Projects analyst to ensure Company procedures are followed with

regard to asset traceability and apportionment of overheads and labour costs. This has meant

challenging Project Managers and business owners to ensure their Project business cases meet

Company requirements.

I manage the annual stock-check and asset verification exercise. These tasks involve meeting with

Three’s DataCentre engineers across the UK to ensure each hardware asset is properly identified

through a “host name” giving details of the assets’ location & the name of the application the asset

supports. I also review their security procedures. This annual stock-check is supportred by the

verification process I have developed, whereby extracts of the Fixed Asset Register(s) are reviewed

by business owners in order to identify future risks of obsolence and redundancy & also for them to

provide any recommendations for mitigation. I report current and future risks promptly to senior

managers.

I have several cross functional activities to undertake each year. These involve helping the Treasury

section complete the Company’s UK insurance policy return and also working with the Tax team in

the calculation of capital allowances. I received a merit bonus for my recent work with the Tax team.

Earlier in the year, I carried out sytem testing for the recent Oracle upgrade to version 12.2 liasing

with IT developers, contractors and finance managers. I had to thoroughly check that the existing

functionality was still available in the new version and to test the new functionality by running a

series a test scripts which I had developed. I discovered several “bugs” with the new software which

had to be corrected through Oracle patches.
